The Centre for Global Disability Studies (CGDS) is a research centre established in 2020 and housed at the University of Toronto Scarborough. CGDS serves a catalyst to bring together faculty members, graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and others conducting anti-ableist, intersectional, and interdisciplinary social science and humanities disability studies research from across all three University of Toronto (UofT) campuses and broader community. CGDS supports transdisciplinary research in disability studies and promotes a transnational, anticolonial approach to advancing the field of disability studies, with a strong commitment to interdependence, accessibility, and disability justice. Seeking to improve the campus climate for researchers and audiences with disabilities across UofT, CGDS aspires to foster critical conversations that advance other ways of thinking about disability.

**Your opportunity**:
The incumbent will support the Centre’s mission to contribute to an anti-ableist, collaborative scholarly community that furthers accessibility and intersectionality as part of disability studies research. The Centre’s Coordinator will promoting and contribute to the future of a new research centre as a dynamic, global destination for current scholarship in transnational disabilitystudies, and a resource for the U of T community.

**Your responsibilities will include**:

- Disseminating information via social media.
- Liaising with contacts to ensure consistent administration procedures are followed.
- Identifying and introducing variations to established administration processes.
- Writing routine documents and correspondence. Editing content for brochures, newsletters, websites and/or handbooks.
- Maintaining information on digital platforms.
- Determining logístical details and activities for events and/or programming.
- Coordinating the schedule for program and event calendars.

**Essential Qualifications**:

- College Diploma (2 years) or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
- Minimum two years of experience in general office administration, event planning and research support.
- Applicants are also expected to show evidence of a commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and the promotion of a respectful and collegial learning and working environment.
- Experience with academic research, with the administration of academic units, or with equity and social justice advocacy projects.
- Proficient with computer programs such as Microsoft 365 (Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel), Zoom, Adobe Acrobat, Wordpress, and shared cloud-based filing systems are essential.
- Must have excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Must be a self-starter.
- Must be a strong team-player and committed to quality service.

**Assets (Nonessential)**:

- University degree in an arts and humanities or social science field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Educational background in critical disability studies, and/or other equity and social justice related academic fields is an asset.
- Knowledge of or experience with University of Toronto policies and administrative procedures is an asset.
- Experience with software and standards for creating and using accessible texts and media, and knowledge of disability access practices is an asset.
