Catering & Cafe Associate

**Job Summary**

Provide assistance and support to the cafe and catering staff reporting directly to the Food & Beverage Manager. Provide excellent services to customers at the cafe and greet cafe and catering customers in a courteous manner. Assist and support cafe and catering chef in preparing dishes and beverages. Take orders and serve the customers. Assist in serving quality food and beverages. Accept payment from customers. Maintain cafe premises following Health & Safety regulations.

**Job Duties**
- Adhere to and enforce all appropriate workplace regulations, compliances, and legislation regarding health and safety, food preparation standards, and company policies and procedures
- Be continually aware of, and maintain, the highest standards of professionalism by following the company dress code and/or wearing the company uniform
- Maintain a professional appearance, demeanour, and attitude at all times
- Protect the health and safety of others by adopting safe work practices and reporting unsafe conditions immediately
- Greet customers with a smile and answer their questions as required
- Advise customers on food and beverage choices, making suggestions when necessary
- Take orders from customers and ensure these are given to the appropriate person to execute
- Ensure food is handled, stored, and cooked according to health and safety standards, and that proper cleanup occurs to meet health regulations
- Clean agreed designated areas in accordance with laid-down procedures, morning or evening routines, and hygiene requirements
- Clean tables and ensure they are cleaned as soon as it is apparent that customers have finished their food or drink with an acceptable balance between speed, yet allowing customers to finish their meal without feeling rushed
- Set tables according to established standards, ensuring that all items used are clean, undamaged and in a good state of repair

**Job Requirements**
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- One year of experience in the food services industry
- Strong working knowledge of food services industry principles, methods, practices, and techniques
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Ability to work individually as well as part of a team

**Work Conditions**
- Flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Extended periods of standing, and other physically demanding conditions
- Occasional overtime and/or lieu time
- COVID-19 - all staff must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 and must provide proof of vaccinations

**Job Type**: Part-time

**Salary**: $16.55-$19.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 - 40 per week
