**The opportunity**:
The Department of History at the Faculty of Arts, University of Manitoba is looking for a Department Business Lead. This position will primarily be responsible for the management of the department’s budget, supervision of office employees, administration of collective agreements, management of departmental space and equipment, and the management of student’s academic activities and related proceedings. The Department Business Lead will also be responsible for providing administrative and executive assistant to the Head, Associate Head, Honours Chair, academic staff, support staff and students.

**The qualifications and experience we’re looking for**:

- Undergraduate degree in a related discipline required.
- Two years of directly related administrative experience providing senior level support to a dedicated program required, preferably in the University community at the departmental level.
- Minimum 6 months of supervisory experience required.
- Experience with interpretation of collective agreements required.
- Experience with HRIS, payroll and finance system required.
- Budgeting experience is required.
- Knowledge of university regulations, programs and procedures as they relate of an academic unit are an asset.
- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, tact and diplomacy is required.
- Excellent communication skills, verbally and in writing is required.
- Excellent planning and organizing skill are required.
- Strong attention to detail required.
- The abilities to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, support staff, students and the public required.
- Ability to problem solve and make independent decisions required.
- Ability to take initiative trouble shoot administrative challenges required.
- Demonstrated leadership and supervisory abilities is required
- Ability to maintain confidentiality is required.
- Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
