**The opportunity**:
The Department Business Lead provides administrative and executive assistance to the Head, Associate Head, Honors Chair, academic staff, support staff, and students. The position is responsible for all administrative matters related to the operation of the Department. This includes the management of the Departmental budgets, supervision of support staff, administration of collective agreements, management of Departmental space and equipment, and the management of students' academic activities and related proceedings.

**The qualifications and experience we’re looking for**:

- Undergraduate degree in a related discipline required.
- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Two years of directly related administrative experience required, providing senior-level support to a dedicated program is required, preferable in the University community at the departmental level.
- Minimum 6 months supervisory experience required.
- Experience with interpretation of collective agreements required.
- Experience with HRIS, payroll, and financial systems required.
- Budgeting experience is required.
- Knowledge of University regulations, policies, procedures, academic programs, and/or course preferred.
- Possess the ability to make independent decisions based on regulations and policies required.
- Excellent planning and organizing skills are required.
- Strong attention to detail required.
- Ability to take initiative to troubleshoot administrative challenges required.
- Demonstrated accuracy and knowledge in accounting and budgetary matters required.
- Must possess excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills.
- The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, support staff, students, and the public is required.
- Must be able to work quickly and calmly under pressure and prioritize and organize workload effectively and efficiently.
- Demonstrated leadership and supervisory abilities are required.
- Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
