Career Development Coordinator

The National Payroll Institute (NPI) is a national association that has represented employers’ payroll interests since 1978. The Association is an influential organization, affecting payroll practices in hundreds of thousands of small, medium and large employers across the country. With more than 21,800 members in Canada and abroad, the Association is recognized as the pre-eminent source of knowledge and information for anyone who administers a Canadian payroll. We also provide certification, professional development programs, and products and services that enable payroll practitioners to enhance operations, meet legislative requirements and utilize emerging technologies.
As we strive to continually add value to our membership, we have created a new role for an organized, detail and service-oriented Career Development Coordinator who will be the main point of contact and support, as well as coordinate NPI’s career development initiatives and services.
In this role, your key responsibilities will include:
**Mentorship: (25%)**
- Coordinate the day-to-day activities of the Institute’s mentorship platform (Mentorcity)
- Champion the mentorship program and be first point of contact, as well as identify and escalate any concerns to management
- Establish benchmarks and prepare engagement reports for the dashboard
- Improve the mentoring community on the mentorship platform through recurring updates, monitoring message boards, post new initiatives, marketing initiatives, and effectively managing the rollout of new product features
- Research and recommend changes to policies, processes and procedures to enhance the mentorship program
- Engage and promote volunteer mentor opportunities
- Provide resources and/or training to mentors/mentees to assist them in using the platform
**Strategic Initiatives: (20%)**
- Benchmark influencer professions along with education institutions and non-profits to bring new ideas to the Institute’s career development initiatives
- Promote career toolkits and other career development resources offered by the Institute
- Collaborate with and assist the Institute’s Stakeholder Relations team to develop employment channels for Payroll System Services Providers (PSSPs)
- Build connections and networks with recruiters and organizations looking to hire, as well as supporting employers with their hiring needs
- Act as liaison for employers seeking tools and resources for career development support
- Respond to inquiries about any career development initiatives in a timely manner, acting as the primary point-of-contact
- Partner with the Institute’s Public Relations team to ensure ongoing and active social media engagement about NPI’s career development initiatives
**Career Events: (25%)**
- Coordinate and schedule hiring managers, recruiters, and HR leaders to speak to students both in classrooms and at virtual course offerings
- Manage all online/in person career development events/workshops including providing technical guidance and direction to team members as appropriate
- Work with strategic partners to provide career development events
- Organize social virtual career development events to educate the members/students on various topics related to the value of mentorship on an ongoing basis
- Coordinate with Public Relations team in the preparation of career development materials as required
- Provide reports on metrics and KPIs for career development initiatives
**Designation Maintenance: (30%)**
- Serve as first point of contact for Certification Professional Education (CPE) inquiries
- Lead the annual Continuing Professional Education (CPE) reminder campaign
- Coordinate the designation reinstatement process including issuing Payroll Knowledge
- Evaluators (PKE)
- documentation and providing documentation submission status
- Assist Credentialing/Certification teams with other related duties/projects as required
- Other duties as assigned
**Qualifications**:
- Post-secondary education, College diploma (Business Administration preferred)
- 2 years’ experience in career development
- Strong knowledge of MS Office in Windows environment and experience working with data bases
- Able to build and maintain strong relationships both internally and with external partners
- Excellent communication skills both written and oral, as well as the ability to present confidently
- Able to plan, organize, prioritize and manage multiple projects effectively
- Adaptable and flexible
- Innovative, problem solver with an ability to think strategically
- Self-motivated, and works well independently and as part of a team
- Service oriented
- Detail oriented
- Fluent in French both oral and written is an asset
