Regional Manager

The Regional Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the Hoover Circular Solutions Canadian business for both the Catalyst (DIBC) and Chemical (LIBC/ISO) sectors. This role requires hands-on leadership to ensure efficient operations, exceptional customer service, and profitability. They will lead a team (operations & sales) and make strategic decisions to optimize all business processes for this region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Team Management:
- Provide strong leadership to the HCS team.
- Recruit, train, and manage a diverse team of supervisors, drivers, warehouse staff, sales, and administrative personnel.
- Set performance expectations, conduct performance evaluations, and foster a positive work environment.
- Foster a strong safety culture to protect employees, prevent incidents, ensure compliance, and enhance overall organization well-being.
- Operations Management:
- Oversee all warehousing and transportation operations, including inventory management, order fulfillment, and transportation logistics.
- Implement and optimize processes to maximize efficiency, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
- Customer Relationship Management (Sales & Service):
- Develop and maintain strong customer relationships.
- Address customer concerns and issues promptly and professionally.
- Monitor service levels and continuously improve customer satisfaction.
- Support direct sales and operations teams efforts to meet the customers ends/expectations.
- Financial Management:
- Develop and manage the annual budget, ensuring revenue and cost targets are met. Support reforecast process as required with Finance team.
- Monitor financial performance, analyze variances, and take corrective actions as needed.
- Review monthly financial reports and prepare AR and AP accruals.
- Review and actively manage DSO/AR to help achieve cash collection targets.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and revenue growth.
- Develop and monitor capital budgets as required.
- Strategic Planning:
- Develop and execute a strategic plan for the business.
- Identify market trends and opportunities for expansion or diversification.
- Make informed decisions to achieve long-term growth and profitability.
- Vendor and Supplier Management:
- Establish and maintain relationships with key suppliers and vendors.
- Negotiate contracts and pricing to ensure favorable terms.
- Monitor supplier performance and seek opportunities for improvement.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Stay up to date with relevant regulations and industry standards.
- Ensure compliance with transportation laws, environmental regulations, and safety standards.
- Position division to secure ISO 9001 at some point in the future
- Technology and Systems:
- Implement and leverage technology solutions for tracking, inventory management, and route optimization.
- Continuously evaluate and adopt industry-specific software and tools.
- Risk Management:
- Identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Implement safety protocols to reduce accidents and injuries.
- Reporting:
- Prepare regular reports on key performance metrics.
- Communicate results and trends to senior management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business management, mechanical engineering, or logistics would be desirable or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience in the transportation, logistics or supply chain, with progressive leadership experience.
- Specific knowledge of the rail industry and systems would be an asset.
- Strong knowledge of logistics, supply chain, and inventory management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Financial acumen and budget management experience.
- Proficiency in using relevant software and technology tools.
- Leadership and team-building abilities.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
