Emergency Management Ontario (EMO) is expanding to meet the future needs of Ontarians and Indigenous Peoples. Come join our team as an Emergency Management Program Advisor within the Program Compliance Unit.

**About Emergency Management Ontario**

EMO is the Province of Ontario's lead for emergency management (EM). It is committed to ensuring Ontarians, communities and provincial ministries are prepared for emergencies, including disasters. It accomplishes this by working closely with Ontario government ministries and agencies, municipalities, First Nations, the federal government, and the private sector.
During major emergencies, EMO coordinates Ontario's emergency response through the Provincial Emergency Operations Centre (PEOC). This can include providing assistance to municipalities, First Nations, the federal government, other provinces and territories, and contiguous US states.
EMO is part of the Ministry of the Solicitor General (SOLGEN) which is responsible for ensuring Ontario's communities are supported and protected by law enforcement, and that public safety and correctional systems are safe, effective, efficient, and accountable.

**About the Program Compliance Unit**

The Program Compliance Unit is comprised of three program teams:

- Compliance and Analysis
- EM Plans
- SOLGEN EM

The unit is responsible for:

- Monitoring, reviewing, and providing guidance and support to all OPS Ontario ministry EM programs;
- Analysing data related to municipal and ministry EM programs to identify trends and develop solutions that increase the their quality and effectiveness;
- Ensuring the currency and effectiveness of key provincial (non-radiological) plans (e.g., Provincial Emergency Response Plan, Ontario Public Service continuity of operations, etc.); and
- Developing and implementing SOLGEN's internal EM program including running its emergency operations centre (MEOC).

**About the Positions**

**What can I expect to do in this role?**:

- assist in the planning, development, delivery, and evaluation of emergency management programs and provide feedback on how these programs can be improved
- conduct research (e.g., surveys, environmental scans, etc.) and analysis (e.g., comparative, quantitative, qualitative, etc.) to support emergency management program development and delivery and assist with the development of tools, processes, performance measures, reports, guidance material, etc.
- build and maintains effective relationships and partnerships with a wide variety of diverse communities, provincially oriented organizations, and advocacy groups
- during an emergency, as required, serve as a staff officer in an emergency operation center (e.g., MEOC, PEOC, etc.), or on field deployment, to help maintain situational awareness and coordinate provincial support

**How do I qualify?**:
**Emergency management expertise**:

- You have sound knowledge of emergency management principles, processes, practices, techniques, and related issues and trends.
- You have knowledge of relevant federal and provincial, and municipal legislation and EM policies.
- You have knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of various levels of government, as well as external organizations (e.g. emergency services, private industry, etc.).

**Analytical and problem-solving skills**:

- You can identify gaps in emergency management programs and plans and develop potential solutions and efficiencies.
- You have comfort with data analysis and visual reporting methods (e.g., pie charts, line diagrams, Power Bi, etc.)

**Leadership and relationship management skills**:

- You can work on cross-functional working groups to provide expertise on a range of emergency management issues and initiatives.
- You can demonstrate political sensitivity and can work effectively with diverse groups and communities.
- You demonstrate trust, fairness, excellence and responsiveness in your work and with your colleagues.

**Communication and adult education training skills**:

- You can communicate clearly in written and verbal formats.
- You are comfortable conducting presentations and training.
- You are able to collaborate with groups and bring creative ideas forward.
