**Organizational Context**:
Alberta Public Safety and Emergency Services, Sheriffs Branch, is looking for two self-motivated individuals to join our team.

**CPIC Data Analyst**

The Analyst is instrumental in the development of CPIC guidelines and standards for the entire Sheriffs Branch and provides input to the continuous development and improvement of how CPIC records are managed. They will develop reports and key performance indicators to assess the overall state of the Sheriffs use of CPIC, and must continually scan the environment for new approaches, technologies, and solutions to stay current in reporting solutions and best practices. The Analyst should anticipate emerging CPIC requirements within the Alberta Sheriffs, and proactively seek solutions to support new policy initiatives and address emergent issues.

**Data Quality Analyst**

**Role Responsibilities**:
As a member of Information Management Unit, major responsibilities of the positions include:
**CPIC Data Analyst**
- Developing in-depth knowledge of the Sheriffs use of the CPIC system.
- Reviewing Sheriff CPIC records to ensure they meet data quality standards, responding to CPIC messages from other agencies, and inputting, revising, or removing Sheriff CPIC records as required.
- Maintaining the Sheriffs access to CPIC through routine administrative tasks relating to user add/change/remove, role assignments, and maintaining accurate records.
- Developing reports and key performance indicators to proactively monitor the systems for data quality issues.
- Promoting end user self-sufficiency in data quality, especially through providing training and the development of guidelines, policies, and procedures.

**Data Quality Analyst**
- Reviewing occurrences, entities, locations, etickets, events, and calls to ensure they meet data quality standards.
- Maintaining the APSA system through routine administrative tasks relating to user add/change/remove, unit add/change/remove, access control lists, and role assignments.
- Developing reports and key performance indicators to proactively monitor the systems for data quality issues.
- Promoting end user self-sufficiency in data quality, especially through providing training and the development of guidelines, policies, and procedures.

**Minimum Recruitment Standards**:
The following applies to both positions:
A University degree in a related field; no experience required; or equivalent as described below.

Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.

**Required Certifications**:
The following experience or education will be considered an asset for the **CPIC Data Analyst position**:

- Experience with CPIC Web
- Completion of the RCMP CPIC Maintenance Course
- Working with a Records Management System within a law enforcement environment
- Knowledge and experience working with JOIN and ROADS

The following experience or education will be considered an asset for the **Data Quality Analyst position**:

- Working with a Records Management System within a law enforcement environment
- Knowledge and experience working with JOIN and ROADS

**Technical Skills**:
These positions require the following technical skills:

- An excellent understanding of the Office suite (Word, Excel, etc)
- An understanding of relational databases

**Problem Solving/Decision Making**:
The following are examples of the problem solving and decision making the roles will be tasked with:
**CPIC Data Analyst**
- Answers incoming queries on CPIC from other law enforcement agencies and must be able to understand the query and respond to it appropriately. If the answer involves releasing any Protected B or C information, the position must be able to articulate the legal basis and standards for sharing the information.
- Receives copies of court orders (warrants, pre-trial release conditions, post-conviction conditions, administrative penalties) and must properly interpret the long-form orders into the short and limited amount of fields available in CPIC, in a manner that provides law enforcement with legally-actionable information.
- Make data quality decisions in regards to the validity of information being entered onto CPIC, and must regularly assess both Sheriff entries and other agencies entries on CPIC for partia
