We are hiring a full-time, permanent
**Analyst, Data** position working out of Edmonton, AB.

The Analyst, Data is responsible for supporting optimal adoption of systems and use of data for decision making across EPCOR Water Services (EWS). The Analyst, Data will utilize business intelligence tools, data pipeline tools, code, data modeling tools, and various data sources to provide data visualization solutions for end users. This position will also be responsible for supporting technical training for Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, and other software tools for data extraction, manipulation, analysis, and visualization.

What you’d be responsible for
- Providing higher-level technical expertise in the creation and maintenance of Power BI products. Including ensuring project data extraction, transformation, analysis, and loading is completed within timelines and aligned to recording rules that maintain data validity, accuracy and referential integrity.
- Supporting projects on behalf of the Situational Awareness group to ensure accurate and future-proofed project planning and implementation.
- Developing, maintaining and executing QA/QC measures to ensure that Power BI products and web based Power BI workspaces are aligned to standards and procedures.
- Using business intelligence tools and data to analyze and manipulate end user data to produce visualizations that support decision making throughout Water Services.
- Accessing, converting, and transforming end user datasets to update existing information, derive new information, or investigate and discover patterns and trends.
- Executing database queries to support decision making across Water Services.
- Developing and implementing a schedule to systematically correct legacy database errors and discrepancies.
- Gathering, documenting and acting on requirements that will support the establishment of Power BI and other BI and Data Analytics tools as enabling technologies to support EWS’ long-term objectives.
- Identifying gaps, errors or inadequacies in existing business process and making recommendations for improvements.
- Designing informative dashboards and data visualizations; using data from internal and external sources to provide creative solutions for end users’ business problems.
- Maintaining a library of procedures to support database recording, analysis, and reporting.
- Supporting backend data troubleshooting tasks, and investigating and resolving data conflicts and inaccuracies as they arise.
- Providing support to external communities, operations and/or stakeholders where required.

What’s required to be successful
- A Post-Secondary Degree related to Data Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Management Information Systems/Business Technology Management, Computer Engineering/System Technology or equivalent is required.
- 3+ years of experience using Power BI for data cleaning/transformation, data modeling, and dashboard/report creation and publishing.
- 2+ years of project experience as a data analyst, business analyst, or data scientist.
- 2+ years of experience developing and delivering Power BI training to technical and non-technical end users.
- Experience in exploratory data analysis, including data cleaning and manipulation of various types of data.
- Experience working with SQL in Oracle relational databases to extract, manipulate, and write database content.
- Experience communicating data analysis results with technical and non-technical end-users.
- Strong knowledge of the fundamentals of data analytics, data management, and relational database concepts.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
- Experience with the following is considered an asset:

- Safe Software’s FME,
- Python and R programming languages,
- Advanced data analytics strategies, such as statistical inference, forecasting, geospatial data modelling, and machine learning,
- Experience with public sector or utility sector data.
