**About Canucks Autism Network (CAN)**

Canucks Autism Network (CAN) is a charitable organization dedicated to providing programs for individuals on the autism spectrum and their families, while promoting acceptance and inclusion through community engagement and training initiatives across BC. Our vision is for every individual on the autism spectrum to be understood, accepted, and supported in all community spaces.

We engage a workforce of over 200 volunteers and 450 frontline staff to deliver programs for children, youth, and adults on the spectrum in communities across British Columbia. Since its inception in 2008, CAN has directly impacted over 8,000 members on the autism spectrum.

**About the Position**

The Development Associate plays an important role in the overall organization of the Development Team and in turn, how we elevate our relationships with donors throughout the donor pyramid.

Responsible for day-to-day activities, including but not limited to data support, analysis, and annual giving planning. The position not only aids in the successful communication, acknowledgement, and recording of donors and their giving, but also in the general organization and communication between the Development and Finance Teams.

**Key Functions (Main aspects of the position)**

**Donation Processing & Database Maintenance**
- Responsible for scanning backup documentation, entering, and acknowledging offline gifts into Raiser’s Edge.
- Collaborates with Development Officer to confirm data in Raiser’s Edge is reconciled with accounting records each month.
- Reviewing third party fundraising platforms (Benevity, Canada Helps, PayPal Giving, ect) and accurately recording gifts into Raiser’s Edge.
- Work alongside Development Officer to maintain, update, and advance donor database.
- Assist Development Officer with annual financial audit, spearheaded by the Director of Finance & Administration.

**Team Admin Support**
- Work with Development Officer on managing Wall of Giving and Annual Report.
- Work alongside Development Officer to execute annual giving campaigns.
- Assist Fundraising Event Specialist in pre-event preparation and execution.
- Assist with the creation and production of promotional, marketing, and communication materials related to fundraising.
- Become well versed on Canucks Autism Network programs and events, being able to provide information on current programs and activities upon request.
- Be the main point of contact for the collection and processing of all donations.

**Requirements**:
Education and Experience
- Post-Secondary Diploma in related discipline such as fundraising, marketing, business administration or philanthropy.
- Demonstrated 2 years of work experience in related discipline including fundraising and/or marketing.
- Prior experience fundraising in a non-profit organization is an asset.
- Experience working with Raiser’s Edge and peer to peer fundraising software is an asset.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Knowledge of all aspects of database administration.
- Excellent numeracy skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Comfortable with technology and strong computer skills including MS Office (or other related design and web-based tools).
- Great attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize, especially when under pressure.
- Enjoys collaboration and is a committed team player.
- Ability to work autonomously and to take ownership of your area of responsibility.
- Ability to represent charity at external events.
- Passionate about Canucks Autism Network and its values.
- Flexibility is necessary, as this position may require occasional weekend and evening work and travel within and outside the Lower Mainland.
