Reporting to the Manager, Adult Services, this position leads initiatives that advance TPL's Strategies for Indigenous Initiatives and the City of Toronto's Reconciliation Action Plan and our commitment to Reconciliation.

Must have a high level of Indigenous cross cultural awareness and/or Lived experience

**Expected End Date**: October 5, 2025

35 hours per week. Evenings & Saturdays required. Plus seven [7] variable hours.

**Job Summary**:
To provide direct and indirect customer service, special service planning, leadership and expertise at the system level and to coordinate the divisional and cross-divisional delivery of a targeted service.

**Duties**:
Under the general direction of the designated manager, the position is responsible for:
Leadership Functions:

- providing expert information in the planning process related to specific area of expertise
- developing service plans related to specific area of expertise, including cross-divisional initiatives, and leading associated change management processes
- developing standards and performance measures
- developing evaluation methodologies and evaluating performance and outputs
- leading or participating in project teams and committees
- preparing reports and presentations related to the specific area of expertise
- developing and implementing training programs related to area of expertise
- establishing and fostering contacts in the community related to area of expertise
- identifying pertinent trends related to the specific area of expertise and disseminating awareness of new research and developments
- providing leadership and acting, as required, as Library spokesperson in the specific area of expertise with respect to the media and community or professional organizations
- coaching, mentoring and maintaining liaison with branch and department staff

Service Functions:

- providing information services
- leading or participating in the processes for development of information tools related to specific area of expertise at the system level
- taking the lead or participating in the development of grant and funding proposals related to the specific area of expertise
- participating in system collection development related to the specific area of expertise
- planning, conducting and evaluating individual programs and events
- performing various duties at the branch, area or system level such as associated collection development and community outreach.

**Qualifications**:

- Graduate degree in Library or Information Science from an accredited institution or equivalent education
- Minimum of four (4) years' professional public library experience, including a minimum of two (2) years in the area of expertise **[Indigenous Community Connections and Partnerships]**:

- Understanding and appreciation of the philosophy of public service to all, in accordance with human rights legislation and the principles of equity and access in the delivery of library service
- Professional skills, including in-depth knowledge of special service area and analytical/research skills
- Experience and/or training in project management
- Proven leadership, interpersonal, communication, presentation and planning skills
- Proven coaching and training skills
- Proven ability to allocate work and direct, organize and motivate staff
- Strong interpersonal skills and the proven ability to work cooperatively with staff at all levels
- Proven ability to exercise sound judgement and flexibility.
