**COORDINATOR, GIRLS EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM **_**(MATERNITY LEAVE OPPORTUNITY)**_

**Youth Assisting Youth is in need of a Coordinator for our Girls Empowerment** **Program to act as a temporary replacement during staff maternity leave. We are looking for an enthusiastic self-starter with a proven background in developing and facilitating Girls programming. Full training will be provided by the existing coordinator.**

**The successful applicant will facilitate and operate a virtual program as well as an in-person after-school and / or weekend program** **in Toronto. The program is specifically designed for girls within the ages of 12-18 with the goals of enhancing the overall health and wellness of each participant, building relevant knowledge and communication skills, while increasing their confidence and self-esteem.**

**Designed to provide activities and workshops that inform, engage, educate and empower girls, the program will also encourage participants to take risks and master physical, intellectual and emotional challenges. Workshops address issues such as Bullying, Health & Fitness; Mindfulness, Healthy/Unhealthy Relationships; Diversity; Substance Abuse; Self-Image & Media Literacy and Violence & Abuse.**

**Responsibilities include**:

- Initiate, organize, coordinate, facilitate, operate and evaluate the Girls Empowerment Program
- Liaise with local Toronto organizations and community partners for the purposes of outreach and collaboration
- Design and produce promotional and outreach materials
- Identify and screen potential female participants and volunteers
- Provide direct leadership to all participants that are registered for the program
- Have the knowledge, skill and proven experience to teach several of the workshop topics
- Research and confirm additional workshop guest speakers
- Coordinate and facilitate workshop presentations
- Able to manage a detailed budget
- Supervise program volunteers
- Provide positive role modeling and mentorship to the children and volunteers in the program

**Required attributes**:
1. Have a diploma or degree in child and youth services, social work, recreation and leisure services or related field

2. Have at least two years’ experience working directly with youth, especially girls,12-15 yrs. of age

3. Have demonstrated experience and an expertise in a variety of sport, recreation and leisure activities

4. Have a background/proven experience and awareness of the challenges that young girls and women face today

5. Demonstrate good organizational and facilitation skills and have proven budgeting experience

6. Have experience in managing youth/adult volunteers

7. Be able to take initiative, be energetic and have a positive and enthusiastic attitude

8. Display strong leadership and inter-personal skills in a group setting

9. The ability to speak a second language will be considered a strong asset

10. Be able to complete tasks as assigned

**11. Must** **have clearance of a Police Criminal Reference Check and Vulnerable Screen**

**12. Must** **have a current First Aid/CPR certificate**

**13. Must** **have access to an insured vehicle and have a valid Ontario driver's license**

This is a 12-month full time, contract position of 35 hours per week starting July 4, 2023. Pay rate is $24.00 per hour
