Temporary Part Time Community Program Coordinator

The Community Program Coordinator will be responsible for the WOVEN program. They will lead and maintain a high quality, stand
- alone faith-based empowerment program suitable for teenage girls in Grades 7 to 12 who could be considered at-risk. The focus of the program is empowering them to become stronger and more confident. The incumbent will encourage, support, respect and demonstrate a positive, caring, energetic attitude towards all who are involved in the program, helping them to build a sense of identity and confidence.
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**Programming**
- Coordinate the weekly programming activities and discussions that adhere to the program strategies & values, maintaining the vision of the program. This includes inviting guest speakers, planning activities, developing program material, and leading discussion groups.
- Provide a safe place and sense of community and belonging for girls who may be faced with unhealthy situations.
- Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate a variety of activities, which are based on identified client needs and interests,
- Manage outreach, recruitment, and enrollment of new participants into the program.
- Manage outreach, recruitment, and screening of volunteers for the program.
- Conduct direct community-based engagement and outreach in the community and establish a consistent presence with youth in the local neighborhoods.
- Engage our Community & Family Services staff, clients, and other community members to identify participants’ needs and establish their ability to participate in the program’s activities.
- Foster confidence, emotional wellness, personal development, and security in young women.
- Encourage and support spiritual growth and development for program participants as appropriate.
- Build an awareness and promotion plan for the program and promote community awareness.
- Create, coordinate, and provide oversight to all outreach and program activities.
- Identify and make connections with resource agencies/partners as a means to source participants and expand outreach.
- Seek out church volunteers to support program elements as required (music, art, cooking, etc.)
- Assist with ensuring that ministry objectives are consistently accomplished and applied to all outreach program initiatives.
- Inform the Corps Officer regarding any concerns or issues in a timely manner.
- Build relationships and establish active links with the North York Temple Community Church and its mission and ministries.
- Assist and/or facilitate as required with the safe arrival and departure of participants.
**Administration**
- Assist with data analysis for program, recording statistics, writing, and submitting reports.
- Maintain accurate records of client information while maintaining confidentiality and providing program, logs of activities, operational and statistical reports as required in a timely, accurate, and organized manner.
**Health and Safety**
- Responsible for abiding by The Salvation Army’s Health & Safety Policies and Procedures and work in compliance with the Ontario Health & Safety Act and Regulations, use personal prescribed safety equipment and clothing as directed by the employer, report workplace hazards, dangers, injuries or illness, work in a manner as required by the employer, and report workplace injuries or illness.
- Assist in ensuring volunteer safety, and adherence to all health and safety standards.
**Perform other related duties are required.**
**WORKING CONDITIONS**:
- This is a temporary part-time position based on 21 hours per week.
- Flexibility in scheduling is required, some weekend and evening work may be required.
- This job requires the ability to lift/move 20 lbs. and reach, bend, stand, sit, and use a computer.
- Working environment is typically in the office in generally agreeable conditions.
- Flexibility in scheduling is required.
- Some travel, up to 10% is required for pickup up supplies and community meetings.
**Normal hours of work**: will be primarily occur 3 days per week / 7 hours per day. May require flexibility at times in accordance with operational requirements and the needs of the ministry unit. Shifts include a ½ hour unpaid meal break as required.
**QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS**:
- Completion of College Diploma in a related field such as Child and Youth Worker, Social Service Worker/Social Work, Social Science and/or an approved equivalent of education and related experience.
- Modern Slavery / Human Trafficking (MSHT) Response Certification or willingness to complete within first 2 months.
- Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.
**EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE**:
- Minimum of two (2) years of related experience working with youth and supervisory experience.
- Demonstrated experience with traditional and non-traditional outreach activities and strategies aimed at vulnerable youth.
