Cecil Community Centre is a not-for-profit, multi-service neighbourhood centre that offers a broad range of recreational, educational, social, cultural, and capacity-building programs to area residents. For over 40 years, the Centre has played a vital role in the lives of community members of all ages. Our centre provides programs and services for children, youth, adults and seniors.

The Cecil Youth Programs offers youth 13 to 19 the opportunity to participate in free youth programs, earn volunteer hours, learn about job opportunities, and participate in events and more. Youth can build practical skills, actively engage in the community and make new friends Our program provides a safe, and inclusive environment in which youth feel encouraged. Participants will enjoy daily activities at the Cecil Community Centre. Activities vary from week to week (Arts & Crafts, Group Games, Sports, Movies and Workshops) and are designed to be age appropriate.

The Girls Sport Program Leader is volunteer positon responsible for coordinating, coaching and mentoring girls in the Girls and Sports Program leading out in multiple sports, teaching life skills, hosting workshops, fostering a positive space for 13 to19 year-old female identifying participants. The Girls Sport Program Leader will teach a variety of sports, encourage healthy physical development leadership skills, and constantly leading by example. The Girls Sport Program Leader will support, nurture and develop the Girls and Sports Program participants to grow in confidence, mental wellbeing, and physical capabilities.

Girls Sport Program Leader reports to the Children & Youth Program Manager.

**Girls Sport Program Leader Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Work in collaboration with the Children & Youth Program Manager to provide engaging sports programming for young girls
- Facilitate sports activities, stretches, exercise, & organized games
- Supervise and direct all volunteers assigned to work with the Girls and Sports Program to lead group activities and other staff duties
- Works in partnership with community organizations to coordinate outings
- Provide mentorship for Girls and Sports Program participants
- Oversees the daily schedules and makes changes when necessary
- Be knowledgeable of and adhere to all Cecil Community Centre policies and procedures.
- Attend trainings and staff meetings.
- Responsible for health and well-being of self, volunteers and program participants
- Practice and enforce all program safety regulations and emergency procedures
- Monitors and ensures appropriate student behavior and adherence to program rules
- Reports all difficulties (emergencies) related to health, safety, behavior and other problems immediately to the Program Manager
- Administrative duties including maintaining Girls and Sports Program records
- Conduct periodic check ins with each of the Girls and Sports Program Participants
- Assists the Children & Youth Program Manager in assessing the Girls and Sports Program overall to identify any changes that need to be made for optimum functioning
- Assists the Children & Youth Program Manager in the completion of all paperwork (e.g. reports)
- Seeks advice from the Children & Youth Program Manager when needed
- Perform other duties and roles assigned by the Children & Youth Program Manager

**Requirements**:

- Previous experience as a Coach or Leader in a community based sports youth programs is preferred
- Experience in various sports
- Demonstrated ability to work independently
- Creativity, enthusiasm, flexibility and the ability to take initiative
- Energetic, patient, and enthusiastic attitude
- CPR and First Aid certification (required)
- Ability to pass a background check (required)

**Hours and Honorarium**: 4 hours per week (2 PM to 4PM; Tuesday & Thursday); $50 per hour. This is a 7 week volunteer contract (July 16 to August 29) Applicants should be 16-30 years old and eligible to work in Canada.
