**JOIN OUR TEAM**

We are looking for a motivated Disability Benefits Advocate to join our Legal Advocacy Program team The Advocate will be responsible for individual and community advocacy relating to B.C. provincial disability benefits (known as PWD) and newcomer issues.

**POSITION FUNCTION**:
**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Relevant university degree coupled with Certificate of a Paralegal Program, Conflict Resolution, and Community Development with comparable experience or a combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge and experience in the Canadian legal system.
- Excellent knowledge of legal community and social-legal services available to immigrants, refugees, and newcomers in Metro Vancouver.
- Knowledge of immigration law, especially as pertains to status necessary to obtain social assistance and PWD.
- Superior file management and experience with client and professional ethics.
- Strong conflict resolution, problem-solving, verbal, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as to seek assistance/advice/direction as appropriate. A knowledge of immigration law is also an asset.
- Knowledge of a second language is an asset.
- Minimum of two years recent related experience.

**HOURS**:24 hours per week

**BENEFITS**:

- A competitive benefits package is provided with contracts of at least 1 year in length and which offer a minimum of 17.5 hours of work per week_.
