Program Coordinator, Environment and Climate Resilience- Job Number : 45359The City of Edmonton's Planning and Environment Services Branch is looking for a professional who is passionate about energy efficiency, climate resilience and renewable energy programs. This supports the implementation of Edmonton's key environmental strategies including the Community Energy Transition Strategy & Action Plan, as well as the Climate Resilient Edmonton: Adaptation Strategy & Action Plan. Focusing on community education and outreach, and energy transition and climate adaptation action coordination, this position will raise public awareness, mobilize action and develop tools to achieve greenhouse gas reductions and climate adaptation goals. In collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, the position will coordinate a variety of projects that increase community knowledge and build capacity, implement marketing strategies and develop climate change resilience programs.
- Design, develop and deliver business events, tradeshows and other outreach initiatives to educate, encourage change and share information with the public
- Develop, implement and support programs and initiatives relating to energy transition and climate adaptation, focusing on outreach, program development and capacity building
- Monitor and measure program metrics including conducting data analysis to inform decision making and overall program evaluation
- Support citizen engagement and participation in environment and climate resilience activities
- Implement integrated policies and guidelines to meet City Council’s energy transition and climate resilience goals
- Conduct jurisdictional scans, review best practices, and provide expert advice on community outreach strategies and initiatives
- Pursue funding opportunities, manage existing grants and coordinate procurement activities, ensuring projects are maintained within budget and timeline reporting with granting organization
- Build relationships with industry, organizations and internal colleagues to develop a network that works towards common goals
- Lead cross-City teams to gather relevant data, establish shared goals and identify alignment with the strategic direction of various City departments
- Support the integration and implementation of community programs to meet climate goals and provide a positive participant experience
- Perform other related duties as required
- Qualifications:

- University degree in science, environmental sciences, education or a related area
- 5 years of progressively responsible experience in a combination of community outreach, educational awareness and capacity building, project management and coordination, and program development is required; experience on environment and/or climate related projects is an asset
- Experience in education, community education and outreach, and social marketing; familiarity with grant and rebate programs and community program development and delivery is an asset
- Proven creative problem-solving skills
- Proven organizational and project management skills
- Ability to make decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong presentation and facilitation experience
- Excellent proofreading skills (grammar, punctuation, spelling) with a high level of accuracy
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a focus on balancing competing priorities and ensuring quality customer service
- Proven ability to effectively handle sensitive information using discretion
- Demonstrated ability to achieve results in the context of a respectful, inclusive and service-minded style
