We are currently searching for a Climate Resilience Strategic Advisor/Engineer, in our Edmonton office.

What we offer:
• A centrally located office in the heart of downtown Edmonton that is easily accessible.
• A flexible work environment that allows for a combination of working from home and in the office.
• Competitive salary and benefits, including a fitness allowance, company-matching pension program, and a parental leave top-up program.
• Ongoing support for your growth and development, including a formal Professional Development program, mentorship programs, training opportunities, professional designation support and a Young Professionals Group.
• An on-site fitness centre accessible to all staff, with full amenities.
• Discounted rates at a neighboring childcare facility.
• An active Social Club that promotes social activities in and outside the office, and offers subsidized tickets to local events, such as the Taste of Edmonton.

The role entails:
• Effective Relationships: Build trust with clients, both internal and external, to listen to their concerns but also to help guide and influence them to take a broader and longer-term perspective in their work.
• Diverse Communication Skills: An affinity to think about what and how to communicate to targeted audiences including senior municipal leaders, council, and citizens.
• Bridge Across Disciplines: Built, natural, social and economic systems are interconnected, and our job is to help find these touch points to build effective actions around climate change considering all systems.
• Leadership: The role will require leadership, from start to finish, in proposal development, project management, and the application and reporting of a wide range of projects and clients.
• Evidence-Based Insights: This role focuses on the application or action side of climate resilience, which is informed by climate data. A strong understanding of risk assessment processes and being able to identify impacts from various climate parameters is a regular part of the job.

• Guiding organizations, at the enterprise or project scales, to understand the importance of climate change, how it can be considered and the process for developing actions.
• Understanding climate data and use it to support organizations’ responses to a changing climate.
• Planning and facilitating stakeholder engagement, through structured interviews, facilitated workshops, questionnaires and meetings.
• Developing climate hazard, vulnerability and risk assessments using the most appropriate framework and, if required, develop adapted frameworks to meet project needs.
• Developing action plans considering multiple types of actions such as policy, monitoring and reporting, communication, built infrastructure and natural infrastructure.
• Providing senior review (QA/QC) and oversight to junior staff in the preparation of climate risk and action planning related projects and/or deliverables.
• Preparing compelling reports and presentations to be provided to clients for projects and in support of business development.
• Supporting building a growing climate resilience practice including business development (through client meetings, association representation, content development, standards development, etc.)

• Experience in managing, communicating and supporting decision-making in the face of significant uncertainty.
• Ability to design, develop and implement facilitated client-facing sessions to support their journey through a better consideration of climate risk.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills with an ability to effectively engage audiences, as well as an ability to clearly summarize findings and offer meaningful insight.
• Effective project management and organizational skills, including ability to manage competing priorities.
