**The Organization**:
The community of Pauquachin, a name generally meaning “the land of cliffs and bluffs”, is historically a First Nations community that is located on Southern Vancouver Island.

Pauquachin was originally part of the WSANEC (Saanich) Nation, which also includes Tsawout, Tsartlip and Tseycum. These bands share a common history and territory. The Saanich Nation belongs to a broader cultural group known as Central Coast Salish. Saanich First Nation settlements have been mostly concentrated on the western side of the Saanich Peninsula. The population in Pauquachin began as a small group of 14 families and many of these families are still present today.

**The opportunity**

We are seeking a motivated, self-directed individual to spearhead the formation of our internal Information Technology (IT) department. We currently outsource our IT services. Our organization has 30-50 staff, most of whom have laptops or desktops and some have mobile phones.

Our IT infrastructure is up-to-date, and we have few IT issues currently. We are working on transitioning from a server-based network storage system to sharepoint.

This position will report directly to the Administrator of Pauquachin First Nation.

This will be a dynamic and exciting position that will be different than many other IT roles. Your work will make a big impact on the local community through improving the efficiency of service delivery, and each day will be different.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Ordering, setting up, and configuring staff devices
- Troubleshooting IT issues as they arise
- Communicating with and training staff to better utilize technology in their work
- Creating a transition plan to bring IT services internal
- Once settled into the role, running occasional community technology workshops
- Ensuring all devices and practices comply with security standards, established policies, and legal requirements
- Coordinating scheduled maintenance and repairs of equipment and IT Infrastructure
- Communicating with external agencies regarding our IT services (Internet, cell phone services, etc.)
- Updating the Pauquachin website

**What we require from you**:

- Degree in IT Management preferred, or post-secondary certifications and relevant work experience
- Minimum of 4 years work experience working in a variety of IT settings
