The Payroll and Benefits Administrator will be responsible for full-cycle payroll processing for approximately 220 hourly and salary employees at one site in Ontario. Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, the role works closely with all areas of human resources, as well as directly with managers of various departments and employees. In addition, this position will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining processes that will contribute to an efficient payroll process for NWI Precision.

**Responsibilities**
Payroll Administration includes:

- Manage biweekly (26/year) hourly and salary payroll processing for Ontario based employees in a fast-paced environment
- Manage all statutory deductions, including PIER reports and balancing PD7s. Comply with all tax and taxable benefits compliance and reporting
- Coordinate and partner with HR to keep all payroll records accurate and up to date
- Provide formal and ad-hoc analysis & reporting of payroll, benefits, and headcount. Create reports related to attendance and worked hours for hourly employees.
- Continuously identify and develop solutions for automation and process efficiency to improve productivity
- Prior experience processing group benefit deductions, various inputs of employee reimbursements and deductions, and retirement plan contributions and match
- Out of cycle/ad hoc payments of employee payments
- Monitor escalations of employee inquiries and ensure that all inquiries are promptly and appropriately resolved

Benefit Administration
- Create employee accounts related to group benefits and group RSP account
- Provide documents to employees at enrollment time
- Upload benefit costs to payroll
- Provide monthly costs to finance team related to group benefit trends and analyze payroll contribution with group benefit billing
- Balance RSP contributions with employer match, upload to financial institution

Business Partnership
- Partner with Human Resources team to optimize employee experience, discuss payment requirements and opportunities for automation
- Partner with the Finance Team to ensure all payroll activities are posted to the general ledger and payroll accounts are reconciled timely and accurately
- Generate reporting of data for General Ledger, review opportunities to use the power of the payroll system to reduce manual reporting
- Partner with Human Resources to facilitate the accurate and timely processing of leaves of absence as well as changes to employee benefits

Compliance
- Support financial/payroll audits, respond and submit details required reporting to WSIB, EHT, CRA, and other governing bodies as required.
- Manage annual preparation and delivery of accurate T4s and other compliance filings

**Requirements**:

- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) and at least 4-6 years of related experience Ontario payroll of hourly and salary non-union employees
- Experience managing payroll end to end process
- Experience with payroll impacts of benefits administration,
- Certified payroll professional preferred
- Effective interpersonal skills, positive attitude, collaborative working style with employees
- Proficient in utilizing business tools such as Microsoft Excel

**Preferred Qualifications**
- Experience with Ceridian Dayforce, Time Clocks, ERP product software, Excel strongly preferred
- An understanding or experience with payroll accounting preferred
- Ability to create GL’s, create back up of payroll data in preparation to balance EHT, WSIB, group benefit billings, T4 balancing, PD7 balancing.
- Ability to create reports using payroll data related to time and attendance, paid regular hours and overtime hours, identify discrepancies, calculate disability payments.
