**About Us**:
The Alberta Emergency Management Agency (AEMA), under the authority of the _Emergency Management Act_, leads the coordination and co-operation of all organizations involved in emergencies and disasters. This includes emergency and disaster prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery.

Disaster recovery is a complex activity that requires a whole of society approach which begins during response and extends well beyond the actual conclusion of the disaster event. The Recovery Branch of AEMA works to support and provide resources to affected local governments and individuals to undertake and lead their recovery.

The AEMA Recovery Branch administers disaster financial assistance to eligible private and public sector applicants impacted by disasters and emergency events for uninsurable loss, under the Disaster Recovery Program, Municipal Wildfire Assistance Program, and other conditional grant agreements as directed by the Minister, such as mitigation.

**Role**:
Reporting to the Manager, Provincial Recovery Planning, the Analyst is responsible for completing research and analysis on multiple topics that contribute to the implementation and maintenance of a provincial recovery framework, and specific plans and programs for integrated Government of Alberta recovery services that are adaptable to varying scales of emergency and types of hazards.

This work includes researching current issues, leading and best practices and previous lessons learned to inform the framework, plans, programs, organizational arrangements, briefings and recommendations. This work contributes to the development and delivery of recovery-based training and exercises and internal communications on recovery issues to enhance recovery capacity and preparedness.

The Analyst also collects and synthesizes information to develop packages that are presented to Cabinet for approval to initiate financial recovery supports. All work is conducted in support of the Recovery Branch’s priority to support the long-term recovery of municipalities and Albertans from major disasters as well as exploring ways to foster increased resiliency.

**Qualifications**:
**Education and Experience**:
University graduation in a related field plus 2 years progressively responsible related experience; or equivalent as described below.

**Equivalency**: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education

**Assets**:

- Experience in Project Management
- Knowledge of relevant ministry operational policies and procedures
- Experience in conducting research and critically analyzing issues to draw conclusions
