**Role**:
This supervisory position, under the direction of the Manager, Recoveries, provides leadership, expertise, support, and direction to a team of Recoveries Officers who collect outstanding debts for the Government of Alberta.

In this role, the Recoveries Supervisor will be responsible for:

- Participating in the development and communication of the group's operational plan and performance measures and monitoring progress towards goals.
- Ensuring actions taken by staff are in accordance with legislation, policy and procedures resulting in fair and equitable treatment for debtors.
- Providing knowledge, creative solutions and functional expertise to team members and related stakeholders.
- Identifying and facilitating staff development activities to ensure staff are properly trained.
- Identifying performance management situations and participating in performance excellence conversations to support staff in meeting expectations.
- Leading discussions on process improvements and communicating recommendations to management.
- Providing approvals for certain program transactions, ensuring reporting activities are completed for all programs and work with divisional financial and administrative staff to ensure accurate budgeting and reporting.

This position must also ensure a high standard of customer service as the programs interact directly with Albertans. The supervisor is the first point of contact when complaints/issues are escalated.

This position will deal with a variety of issues related to the Fines Enforcement Program (FEP), the Abandoned and Seized Vehicle Program (ASVP), Children’s Services (CS) and Senior and Community Social Services Programs (SCSS), some of which can be complex. The Recoveries Supervisor will represent a province wide program and speak on behalf of FEP, CS, SCSS and ASVP in branch, divisional and cross ministry business as well as on various initiatives, which require a comprehensive knowledge of program and branch policies and procedures. This position will be visible to program staff, branch staff, other government ministers (ex. Service Alberta) and externally to members of the public and financial institutions.

**Qualifications**:
Two-year diploma in a related field plus five years of Supervisor/leadership experience.

Directly related experience or education considered on the basis of:

- one year of experience for one year of education or
- one year of education for one year of experience.

Additional Assets include:

- Experience in JOIN an asset
- Extensive knowledge of the Traffic Safety Act, Motor Vehicle Accident Claims (MVAC) Act, MVAC Regulations, The Fair Trade Act, Vehicle Seizure and Removal Regulation, Victim's of Crime Act, Civil Enforcement Act and the Criminal Code of Canada is required.
