We are hiring one (1) Full Time, Permanent Analyst Controls position working out of Edmonton, AB.

The Analyst, Project Controls, is accountable for cost controls, risk analysis, planning, forecasting, scheduling, monitoring, analysis, and reporting on individual projects, as well as portfolio level analysis of risks and recovery. The Analyst, Project Controls will develop a thorough understanding of EPCOR’s stage/gate project process and be accountable for developing or maintaining the enterprise project structure, work breakdown structure and cash flows for each project and the overall portfolio.

What you’d be responsible for
- Establishing project and portfolio level analysis and monitoring of progress including budgets, forecasts, KPIs, risks and recovery.
- Responsible for setting up cost management systems, monitoring and tracking of costs, administration of project change management process. Coordinate with estimators and other Project Controls Analysts to develop and update cash flow forecasts.
- Developing and implementing best-practice processes utilizing Microsoft Power BI, Excel, Power Queries, and other tools, for data analysis, data visualization and reporting.
- Supporting project managers and project team in overall project planning, for the entire project lifecycle.
- Collaborating with the project control team to build and implement a robust Project Control System and Process.
- Conducting advanced level analysis and monitoring of projects, programs and portfolio performance, including cost, estimate, budget, schedule, and senior management reporting.
- Assisting the Project Management team as required, this includes:

- Building relationships with key project staff.
- Preparing and distributing regular project status reports, dashboards, and forecasts for various levels of management or stakeholder groups.
- Generating and analyzing monthly accruals, actual cost, forecast and cost variance report of the projects and programs.
- Working with Operations to issue short-term and long-term shutdown plans including detailed resource requirements.
- Participating and contributing to operational excellence and process improvement projects.
- Demonstrating a high performance, highly disciplined, achievement-oriented, safety-conscious manner of working.

What’s required to be successful
- 2 year diploma in Engineering Technology, Construction Management, project management, finance or related field from a recognized post-secondary institute is required.
- 7 years of Project Controls (Cost Engineering / Management, Scheduling, Planning and Risk Management) and relevant construction projects experience.
- 4 years of cost controls and planning capacity experience in multiple projects or portfolios, including experience using cost controls and planning software is required.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or other PMI designation would be an asset.
- Knowledge of best practices in cost controls, planning, project management and construction.
- Knowledge of project risk management, risk analysis, project/program/portfolio contingency, Monte Carlo Simulation would be an asset.
- Strong planning skills and high analytical capability with a concern for the quality and accuracy of the information provided.
- Expert knowledge of data analysis and visualization software i.e., Power BI, Excel, Excel Power Query and other data analysis and visualization tools.
- Knowledge of Cost Controls, Cost and Cashflow report at project, budgeting, forecasting, earned value management, program and portfolio level.
- Expert knowledge of scheduling software i.e., Primavera P6.
- Knowledge of methods, practices, material, equipment, and labour requirements in all phases of construction in municipal utility projects.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and facilitate training.
- Strong understanding of ERP systems, i.e., Oracle, SAP or similar systems.
- Experience with water industry projects and shutdown planning would be considered as an asset.
