If so, bring your strong communications planning, execution and digital storytelling expertise to the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing We're looking for highly motivated and energetic digital leaders to oversee and manage the ministry's responses and issues management strategy on social media. In this role, as part of a collegial, cross-functional team, you will also craft supporting social media, web and creative content to further the ministry's programs and goals.

The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing works with local governments and partners across Ontario to build safe and strong urban and rural communities with dynamic local economies, high quality of life and affordable and suitable homes for everyone. The
**Communications Branch** leads public and internal communications initiatives in support of ministry priorities and program delivery. Services include the development of communications strategies, media relations, digital content, graphic design, writing services and event planning.

**What can I expect to do in this role?**: In this role you will:

- lead the ministry's social media community management, monitor and report on engagement, respond to inquiries, develop stock responses, and manage social media outreach efforts
- provide advice to the management team on leading edge new social media and online community management tools, processes and developments
- develop digital and social media communication plans, content and campaigns
- craft copy and creative content for the ministry's social and digital media platforms

**How do I qualify?**:
**Communications Knowledge and Experience**:

- knowledge of communications theory, principles and practices to provide consultative and advisory services related to the development and implementation of social and digital media strategies and plans
- knowledge of journalism, media relations, social/digital media, marketing, and advertising including the strengths and weaknesses of various social media platforms
- experience with social media monitoring tools and web analytics to track performance and prepare reports on organic and paid content
- experience presenting and writing social media and web content in a concise, clear, and engaging way
- experience with community management and addressing inquiries from the public
- experience developing and presenting briefings, reports and communications products

**Consultation and Advisory Skills**:

- consultation skills to provide advice to ministry senior management, officials and clients regarding the integration of digital and social communications and management of emerging contentious issues
- advisory skills to discuss and gain acceptance of proposals and recommendations by senior management and/or officials
- facilitation and collaborative skills to coordinate communications activities with other ministries and Cabinet office staff, and gain cooperation throughout the process

**Analytical and Problem Solving Skills**:

- well developed analytical skills to understand problems, assess associated risks and develop solutions and make recommendations on emerging issues and trends, many of which are politically sensitive and/or contentious in nature
- experience determining appropriate content for postings on social/digital media websites and proven initiative to identify, analyze and respond to issues strategically
- experience assessing the relevance of increasing audience outreach, ministry strategic and communications plans, privacy and stakeholder relations issues

**Project Management Skills**:

- knowledge of project management methodologies, processes and guidelines and standards to participate in ministry, cross-ministry and external stakeholder projects
- experience leading and coordinating communications projects with frequent short notice changes in deadlines and conflicting work demands from multiple stakeholders
