As an HR Admin, you will provide essential support to the HR department and assist in various administrative tasks. Van-Kam Freightways Ltd (Van Kam) is one of the largest regional carriers in Western Canada specializing in less-than-truckload (LTL) transportation. With 8 terminal locations across British Columbia, we fulfill shipments to communities within 1-3 days throughout BC and Alberta. Between our own resources and our partner network, our coverage extends beyond Western Canada into the U.S. and Eastern Canada.
**Responsibilities**:
- Assist in the recruitment process, including posting job openings in the applicant tracking system, drafting, and sending offer letters, reviewing new hire paperwork, and keeping relevant departments
- Provide support for internal projects as directed by the HR Generalist and HR Manager.
- Respond to internal and external inquiries and provide general assistance on HR-related matters.
- Prepare HR documents such as employment verification letters.
- Coordinate new hire orientations and facilitate onboarding processes.
- Maintain compliance with federal, provincial, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Manage new hire tracking and new hire surveys.
- Oversee employee anniversary program and job shadow program.
- Provide support to help execute company events.
- Update internal website with information for employees, updated forms, newsletters, and training records.
- Assist with ad hoc HR projects and initiatives as required.
- Support the payroll department with data entry, document sorting and ad hoc projects.
- Create a safe and inclusive work environment.

- Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- Attention to detail and accuracy.

**Work Arrangements**
This is a part-time role, 20-24 hours per week. Schedule is flexible within our business hours of Monday-Friday between 7:00am-5:00pm. This role does not offer hybrid or remote benefits and must report to our Surrey location.
