**Library Assistant, Sexual and Gender Diversity Digital Project**:
The University of Saskatchewan Library has a large collection of archival and library materials relating to sexual and gender diversity and 2SLGBTQi+ communities. This position will provide crucial support in launching a revamped website highlighting these collections and providing unique research resources.

**Primary Purpose**:This position focuses on work relating to a new website highlighting the University Library’s 2SLGBTQI+ collections, primarily preparation of resources including a historical timeline; adding curated content to the website, creating metadata records to describe materials from the Neil Richards fonds that have been digitized, and selected digitization of additional materials.

**Nature of Work**: Reporting to the UASC Operations Manager and working with the Digital Scholarship Coordinator and other staff in the Digital Research Centre (DRC) and University Archives and Special Collections (UASC), the work focuses on the development of a new website through metadata creation and editing, with some digitization. The work is detailed-oriented, with an emphasis on following established standards and processes, and is heavily focused on digital technologies. The position is located in the Murray Library; some remote work may be possible through the USask Alternative Workspace Guidelines.

**Typical Duties or Accountabilities**:

- Prepare and load website content through a content management platform.
- Prepare indexes and related material for loading onto the website through data cleanup, editing, etc.
- Describe previously selected materials through creation of metadata records, including newspaper clippings, periodicals, photographs, textual material, etc.
- Digitize and describe selected new materials.

**Education**:Post-secondary education completed or in progress. USask student preferred.

**Experience**:

- Employment experience in a library and/or archives would be an asset
- Experience with archival materials, historical research, or both, would be an asset

**Skills**:

- Proficiency working with desktop and Web-based systems
- Ability to use and learn a variety of software and online tools
- Ability to organize work, set priorities, and work independently
- Ability to collaborate effectively with others in a team environment
- Effective communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain high quality standards
