Role Summary
Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, the HR Partner collaborates with the HR team and leaders to build and implement best practice programs, policies and engagement to attract, retain, and develop employees based on an understanding of operational requirements, research and technical expertise across all of Century Group’s properties and divisions (Corporate, Revenue Properties, Construction, Hospitality, and Seniors Housing).
Key Accountabilities
- Provides coaching and guidance to leaders on their interpretation and execution of HR policies and programs such as performance management and development plans, compensation, change management and job design based on a consistent approach set by the HR Team
- Creates and maintains a progressive and engaging onboarding to the company that reflects our desired Culture of Partnership and promotes full integration and success in their position; ensures all new employees receive a complete orientation, and supports leaders in creating and maintaining an aligned department orientation.
- Conducts Stay Interviews within assigned portfolio, reports themes and recommends improvements to leaders and Director, HR that support employee engagement and retention. Monitors probationary period and annual performance reviews. Provides performance coaching assistance to supervisors and managers to ensure the performance management process is highly effective, aligned to organizational and site goals and strengthens employee engagement.
- Collaborates with the Director, HR and leaders to develop training and development plans that address themes that emerge from the performance review process, support succession planning and increase overall organizational effectiveness
- Design and facilitate workshops and programs that are aligned with the HR Team's goals and vision necessary to meet training needs, or manage training activities via external providers
- Ensures employee employment records are maintained accurately for the assigned portfolio including hires, transfers, salary changes, training and termination of employment
- Manages WorkSafeBC claims and facilitates the return to work process in conjunction with the Safety Coordinator
- Improves processes, systems, procedures and policies to ensure human resource practices are effective and in alignment with both Century Group values and HR best practices.
- Promotes and manages the Rewards & Recognition program and monitors the impact in relation to performance reviews and creating an engaged Culture of Partnership.
- Reviewing materials in collaboration with Director, HR including policies, process documentation and procedure manuals.
- Provides assistance to employees on work related issues and concerns
- Assists with the collective bargaining process. Gathers and analyzes data for development of bargaining proposals and serves as a member of the bargaining committee
Education & Experience
- University degree or college diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field complemented by 3 to 5 years of progressive experience within the field.
- Possession or in the process of attaining a CPHR designation is preferred.
- Experience in the administration of collective agreements and labour relations in a unionized environment is an asset
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Broad knowledge of all areas of the human resources field including a strong understanding of employment law and related legislation.
- Strategic outlook to support the objectives and goals for both the HR Department and the business
- Well developed organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities and deliver a high level of customer service in a fast paced, deadline oriented environment.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to speak, listen and write in a clear manner using appropriate and effective communication tools and techniques. Strong relationship building, influencing, coaching and persuasion skills. Effective training and presentation skills
- Good judgment and the ability to work with a high level of independence while demonstrating a good sense of when it is appropriate to escalate issues to the Director, HR
