**Position Purpose summary**:
The Manager, Support Services, is a member of the Leadership team and responsible for the effective delivery of food services/ nutrition, laundry, and housekeeping by:
1. Provides effective leadership and direction to Support Services staff
2. Functionsas the resource person for “Best Practice” in Support Services systems and practices.
3. Leads quality assurance and improvement to ensure compliance with regulations.
4. Promotes wellness and safety across the organization.
**Accountabilities**:
**SUPPORT SERVICES**:
- Plan, organize, control, and direct the operation of Support Services. Evaluating routines and productions levels to maximize resources and ensure efficient service delivery.
- Ensures support service delivery practices and procedures comply with licensing regulations, professional standards, provincial regulations, accreditation standards and organizational policies through regular monitoring and evaluation.
- Collaborates with the Executive Director to identify deficiencies and implement specific actions to improve operation and function of Support Services.
- Prioritizes and promotes a culture of safety and risk mitigation for all customers of the organization through due diligence, role modeling, corrective actions and problem solving, communication and education.
- Consults with the Executive Director to identify and recommend Best Practice based standards and procedure for Support Services staff.
- Collaborates, and consults with the Clinical Dietitian to ensure that the residents’ nutritional needs are met.
- Consults and works with the interdisciplinary care team to ensure the delivery of resident centered support services.
- Maintains effective cooperative relationships with designated external partners. Liaises with external suppliers to resolve issues regarding the quality and quantity of goods and services. Reconciling discrepancies.
- Maintains inventory levels of supplies according to established guidelines including those for emergency preparedness. Ensuring cost effectiveness, efficiencies in storage and space requirements.
**OPERATIONS**:
- Supports and promotes Buchanan’s Mission, Vision, and Values and is a role model and mentor of Resident Centered Care, Residents Rights and the Code of Ethics.
- Collaborates with other leaders to develop organizational policies, plan activities and events, review data and information and participate in operational decision making.
- Participates in the development, implementation, and communication of Buchanan’s strategic plan.
- Develops action plans and strategies to focus and evaluate personal performance towards the assigned goals of the strategic plan. Establish an annual Performance Plan with the Executive Director.
- Supports a culture of Quality Improvement through leadership and coordination of improvement initiatives in groups, teams and or committees consistent with the priorities of the Strategic Plan. Research and seek “Best Practice” information as the foundation for improvement.
- Prioritizes and promotes a culture of safety and risk mitigation for all customers of the organization through due diligence, role modeling, corrective actions and problem solving, communication and education.
- Collaborates with the Executive Director to provide input into Buchanan’s annual operating budget. Regularly monitoring expenditures and variances and initiating collaborative appropriate actions to align performance within the established budget.
- As directed by the Executive Director, collectes specified information, summarizing, and analyzing indicator data to identify risk and monitor outcomes. Reporting information to Directors, Executive Director, and other identified groups.
**HUMAN RESOURCES**:
- Recruitment, selection, and discharge/termination of staff. Select and supervise immediate staff and develop appropriate work assignments. Reporting all actual or potential disciplinary issues to the Executive Director and participating in the disciplinary process, as directed.
