The Assembly of First Nations (AFN) is an advocacy organization, taking direction and fulfilling mandates as directed by First Nations in-Assembly through resolutions. **The Role**:
The Finance & Admin Officer takes direction from and reports to the Senior Director, Social and will have the following key duties and responsibilities:

- Keeps the Senior Director and Sector staff informed of upcoming commitments and responsibilities.
- Oversees and administers internal contracts, budgets & deliverables including scrutinizing Terms of Reference (TOR) & Requests for Proposals (RFP), contract writing and processing through Laserfiche approval processes, contract deliverables coordination, invoice processing & tracking.
- Tracking RFPs through the process, creating bid evaluations & summary templates, monitoring deadlines, reviewing proposal bids and participating in bid evaluations, developing contracts from chosen proposals and preparing briefing notes and contract documents to go to CEO or Executive Committee for decision.
- Monthly Review of Sector Cost Codes-GL Financial Transactions for accuracy/changes.
- Complete a broad variety of administrative tasks for the Sector Director as required.
- Produces essential deliverables so projects get completed in a timely manner and on budget
- Tracks on-going deadlines, deliverables, and provides reminders to Director.
- Updates the list of Sector cost code & dates of projects.
- Keeping accurate records and filing system.
- Conducts other duties as assigned by the Senior Director.

**Qualifications**
- College Diploma/ 3 year BA in administration or similar field of study
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in coordinating meetings and negotiating with vendors for meeting space in addition supporting Senior Management or CEO of an organization
- Excellent advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Word and Excel
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Tact and diplomacy in dealing with sensitive and confidential matters
- Must have strong client relations experience in dealing with various levels of representatives
- Ability to resolve conflict and mediate mutually beneficial resolutions between parties to ensure individual and group needs are met to everyone’s satisfaction.
- English is the working language; however the ability to work in both official languages (English/French) is an asset.
