**The opportunity**:
The University of Manitoba is looking for an Administrative & Special Projects Coordinator. This position will be responsible for providing administration support to the Direct, Athletics and Recreation and supports project coordination for Bison Sports and the Bison Integrated Support Team (BIST). The position provides quality assurance for Safe Sport policies and supports protocols and compliance.
**The qualifications and experience we’re looking for**:
- Completion of a formal training program in a related field from a recognized institute is required
- A degree in Sport Administration/Business, Recreation Management, or Physical Education is preferred
- Safe Sport certification or coursework in ethics, risk management, and compliance, would be considered an asset
- Formal training in project management would be considered as asset
- Minimum of four years of directly related experience required
- Knowledge and familiarity with sports administration and current environmental issues required
- Experience in project management or coordinating special initiative required
- Experience managing or supporting strategic planning activities, including coordination, scheduling, and stakeholder liaison required
- Knowledge of Safe Sport standards and administration, including risk management, background checks and ethics training coordination required
- Experience handling confidential information with a high degree of integrity, diplomacy and professionalism; especially in sensitive areas related to sport administration is required
- Experience in athletic administration, including working with coaches, sports teams, or volunteers, would be a strong asset
- Experience with project management software would be considered an asset
- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- Excellent organizational skills for coordinating and prioritizing work, meeting deadlines, maintaining office records required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with an ability to liaise effectively with staff, coaches, external departments, and stakeholders required
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experienced with digital online learning platforms like UM Learn for program administration required
- Critical thinker, self-motivated, problem-solving skills with ability to take initiative required
- Strong public relations skills required
- Ability to work independently and as a team member, make sound independent judgements, take initiative, and problem solve required
- Capable of analyzing data and preparing concise reports and presentations for various meetings and decision-making bodies required
- Proactive and resourceful with the ability to manage ambiguity in a dynamic environment, taking initiative to suggest and implement new projects aligned with Bison Sports' and the Faculty's mission required
- Ability to coordinate workflow, identify processes requiring improvement and recommend, develop and implement modifications to improve efficiency or develop and implement new processes as required
- Cultural sensitivity; open-mindedness; flexibility required
- Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required
