**Description**

Tractus Projects is a general contracting commercial building and renovation company specializing in the construction of restaurant, office, institutional, and retail projects, and as such, is the Prime Contractor on site. Being the Prime, Tractus is responsible for overseeing the safety of all Subcontractors and ensuring a safe construction site. Tractus is COR Certified and having a recognized and functioning safety program demonstrates to everyone in the construction industry that Tractus takes safety seriously and understands everyone has the right to work in a safe and healthy environment.

The role of the Safety Coordinator is to facilitate the development, implementation and administration of Tractus Projects’ Safety & Health Program. This is a Part-Time position averaging 25 flexible hours a week. Reporting to and working closely with the Safety Officer, the Safety Coordinator will be responsible for all Health & Safety related activities and initiatives within the office and on project sites. A solid understanding of safety requirements; and exceptional interpersonal skills to interact with various personnel including Principal Management, Project Managers, Site Superintendents, Subtrade Workers and Owners are a must.

**Specific Accountabilities**:

- Solve Problems: assess problem situations to identify causes, gather and process relevant information, generate possible solutions, and make recommendations and/or resolve the problem.
- Flexible: can conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities; flexible during times of change, can effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
- Ability to: work effectively independent of supervision, mature attitude.
- Adept at: conducting research into safety & health-related issues and products.

**The Primary Responsibilities of the Safety Coordinator include but not limited to**:

- Create and develop new policies and procedures as required.
- Revise and update any existing policies to conform to current legislation/working conditions.
- Support Site Superintendent with implementation and management of Tractus S&H Program on sites.
- Draft Site-Specific Safety Plans as required; review Contractor Safety Programs.
- Develop Safe Task Practices and Safe Work Procedures with Tractus Team Members
- Visit/monitor construction project sites to review safety for compliance with Tractus’ S&H Program
- Participate in site inspections and hazard assessments.
- Request/track site specific safety from subtrades.
- Conduct site specific safety training.
- Conduct/participate in toolbox talks and site orientations.
- Conduct/participate in emergency evacuation procedure tests.
- Oversee/direct incident investigations and review all reports. Ensure corrective actions completed.
- Track/record all incidents. Prepare reports/stats.
- Prep project site safety including safety boxes, documents and binders.
- File and track safety documents generated from sites. File at project completion.
- Create and populate tracking logs for current year COR Audit.
- COR Audit documentation preparation; compile and summarize the annual safety statistics
- Prepare & distribute the Corrective Action Plan resulting from the annual COR Audit.
- Complete Corrective Action Plan items in time indicated; Implement new policies/procedures.
- Conduct Safety Meetings and maintain minutes.
- Complete Tractus Projects’ HQ safety inspections and hazard assessments.
- Conduct inspections on safety equipment/PPE
- Review/stock/purchase safety supplies
- Ensure yearly hearing tests and sound monitoring conducted as per Hearing Conservation Policy.
- Organize safety training for Team Members. Track Safety Training.
- Participate in continuing education to update knowledge of H&S protoco
