**Role**:
We are looking for someone who is passionate about working with key strategic partners and others to advance Alberta’s environmental and natural resource management through good governance. The Ministry of Environment and Protected Areas' (EPA) Manager of Partnership Governance is responsible for ensuring the review and delivery of the "Water for Life: Alberta's Strategy for Sustainability" and "Clearing the Air: Alberta's Renewed Clean Air Strategy" and consults with other water and air policy and resource stewardship positions within the department to coordinate a consistent approach across the province.

This manager position is responsible for providing strategic advice to Ministry clients and 26 strategic partnerships to support relationship management, good governance, implementation, and performance tracking of its environmental strategies: Water for Life Strategy and the Renewed Clean Air Strategy.

**Responsibilities include but not limited to**:

- Manage the renewal of the Water for Life Strategy and Action Plan and the renewed Clean Air Strategy and Action Plan.
- Manage implementation of the Water For Life Action Plan and renewed Clean Air Strategy Action Plan.
- Lead EPA’s Water Strategy Team and Air Strategy Team.
- Lead Water for Life Strategy Cross Ministry Support Team and renewed Clean Air Strategy Cross Ministry Support Team.
- Manage updates to the Alberta Water Council and the Clean Air Strategic Alliance Boards on status of Government of Alberta actions for the Water for Life and Clean Air Strategies.
- Manage Implementation of the Alberta Water Council and the Clean Air Strategic Alliance project report recommendations directed to the Government of Alberta and EPA.
- Manage relationships and core operating grants to 26 strategic partnerships, including liaising with EPA’s Finance team (Contracts and Procurement Unit and Payments), to ensure timely payments to partnerships and accruals of EPA funding as needed.

- Soft skills in diplomacy, including strong emotional and social intelligence, and skill in persuasion and collaborative negotiations; and
- A firm ethical foundation grounded in the value of the public service

**Qualifications**:
**Requirements**:
University graduation in a Natural Sciences, Political Science, Communication/Public Relations or Government/Public Administration or a related field, supplemented by six years progressively responsible experience.
Related experience or education may be considered as an equivalency on a one for one basis.

**Equivalency**:
Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.

**Required**:

- Experience planning, implementing, delivering and evaluation of complex programs or projects
- Extensive knowledge of a broad range of environmental issues
- Extensive knowledge of water and air policy/legislations
- Well-developed interpersonal and negotiation skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong supervisory experience
