Reporting to the Deputy Director of Child Welfare (DDCW), the Director is a member of the Child Welfare Branch, which has responsibilities in supporting MCFD to achieve service excellence across the spectrum of Ministry programs, including Child Safety, Family Support, Children in Care, Early Childhood Development services, Child and Youth with Special Needs, Child and Youth Mental Health services, Youth Justice services and Adoption, across the province in the Ministry and Delegated Aboriginal Agencies. The Director is responsible for the oversight of branch teams that complete investigations and reviews of services delivered across these service lines, and provide practice support and issues management. The Director provides services in a manner consistent with operational and strategic objectives as set out through Ministry and Divisional strategic plans, consistent with the Aboriginal Policy and Practice Framework.

**Job Requirements**:

- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Social Work, or Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Child & Youth Care, Master's Degree in Educational Counselling Psychology/Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology;
- **NOTE**: If this education was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES). You must provide a comprehensive report and the MCFD supplemental report by the closing date of this posting to be considered; OR
- Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Services field OR Bachelor’s Degree with a Major/Honours in a Human Services field PLUS Minimum 3 years of recent related work experience
- **NOTE**: If this education was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES). You must provide a basic report by the closing date of this posting to be considered
- Human Services fields include Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, Anthropology, Early Childhood Education, Indigenous Studies, Education and Nursing
- Recent related work experience includes experience gained after completing the required education, and includes working with children, youth and families in a number of settings (must be gained within the past 5 years).
- Experience in managing reviews and/or projects.
- A minimum of two years of supervisory / manager experience.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License with no restriction or equivalent (i.e. from another Canadian Province).

Preference may be given to applicants with:

- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Social Work, or Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Child & Youth Care, Master’s Degree in Educational Counselling Psychology/Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology**Willingness Statements**
