Crisis Intervention Worker

Reporting to the Director of Programs & Services, the Crisis and Outreach Worker role is to provide support, advocacy and guidance to the community clients. The worker must collaborate in a warm and collegial fashion with team members including other employees, volunteers and residents.

This position is a full-time contract position beginning from June, with a contract duration of 1 year to cover for maternity leave.

**Responsibilities**:

- Provide support to women and family members who are experiencing mental health crises in the community. Support includes assessment, counseling, information and referral, crisis management, advocacy, etc. (case management) in the community
- Work in partnership with clients to assist them in preventing and/or resolving crisis situations (e.g. harm reduction, suicide prevention, and non-violent crisis intervention)
- Assist clients to maintain/develop a supportive network
- Facilitate access to required services, resources and supports
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with key partners, supports, and community agencies
- Educate clients and service providers of crisis intervention, prevention and management strategies
- Complete administrative requirements which include but limited to— OCANs, CBI, etc.
- Implement Program Evaluation and Client Satisfaction Surveys
- Attend networking committees
- Ensure that government reporting is completed
- Participate in and attend to agency events
- Perform any other duties as required

**Qualifications**:

- Degree in social work or diploma in social services or combination of experience and education.
- 3 years experience working in mental health and addiction services
- An understanding of the recovery model, anti-oppression work and a familiarity with issues affecting LGBTQ+ communities
- Strong assessment skills
- Knowledge of existing services in the GTA
- Ability to work flexible hours
- Current first aid training
- Knowledge and understanding of trauma
- Second Language an asset

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months

**Salary**: $40,000.00-$50,000.00 per year

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday

- DCS / DEC (required)

**Experience**:

- Social Services: 1 year (required)
