A typical day for the Human Resources Business Partner
- Build, foster and grow partnerships between the HR function and APS business areas to deliver value-added services to management and employees that support APS’ strategic plan
- Maintain the relevant business acumen about the departments and teams within a portfolio, including the function, connections and interdependencies with other APS departments
- Use an intimate understanding of the short, medium, and long-range goals and how those goals drive the delivery of pension administration services to APS’ clients
- Support recruitment and retention, performance management, attendance management, employee engagement, job evaluation, compensation, employee/labour relations and occupational health and safety
- Provide consultation on talent acquisition, organization and job design, and employee engagement in addition to other related HR tasks, duties, and responsibilities
- Work through challenging employee and labour relations issues, including labor relations support by advising, coordinating, coaching and providing strategic direction on a variety of human resource functions
- Provide insights and supports that build capacity in leaders at all levels
What you bring
- University degree in a related field
- Minimum 8 years of experience in a similar role, resolving complex employee issues, building relationships and supporting clients at a strategic level
- Equivalent education and experience will be considered
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (including Teams)
- Working knowledge of multiple human resources disciplines, including compensation practices, recruitment, organizational diagnosis, employee and union relations, diversity and inclusion, performance management and progressive discipline
- Proven track record of fostering and maintaining positive and collaborative relationships with operational leaders, HR colleagues, HR service partners and union representatives
- Strong understanding of employee relations, performance management and interpretation of collective agreements
- Thorough understanding of organizational design, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices and related administrative practices
- Sound ability to successfully lead and manage significant organization-wide initiatives
- Comfortable working with diverse stakeholders with diverse backgrounds, in a highly confidential environment requiring tact, diplomacy and discretion
