**KEY FUNCTION**:
Provide psychological assessment, diagnosis, treatment, consultation, and education to clients and families with Acquired Brain Injuries (ABI). Act as the Clinical Leader of the Outpatient Brain Injury Rehabilitation Service (OBIRS).

**REPORTING**:
Under the general direction of the Clinical Manager, Chronic Disease Self-Management, OBIRS and Integrated Chronic Pain.

**DUTIES**:
**Psychological Associate**:

- Perform intake assessments and attend client case conferences in both inpatient and outpatient ABI services and other hospital and community-based services as required.
- Perform clinical screening evaluations and formal psychological diagnostic assessments within the scope of both Clinical and Rehabilitation Psychology.
- Provide individual and group therapies to clients and families, including the acquisition of coping skills, psycho-education, cognitive rehabilitation, adjustment to disability, treatment of behaviour and personality challenges, and treatment of adjustment, mood, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorders.
- Participate in regional assessments within the regional catchment area by utilizing Telemedicine.
- Maintain up-to-date charting/records in compliance with HSN and departmental policies and procedures and the CPO’s standards of practice.
- Act as the primary point-of-contact for clients, families, and other service providers as they navigate the referral and intake process.
- Provide day-to-day supervision and guidance to the interdisciplinary team with clinical challenges.
- Provide support to the interdisciplinary team in the areas of behaviour and risk management.
- Develop, implement, and monitor clinical and rehabilitation intervention plans within an interdisciplinary team setting.
- Facilitate the team review and acquisition of best practices in the ABI field, including organizing, chairing, and presenting on training days and annual planning days.
- Provide both informal and formal teaching, supervision, and mentorship to students, psychology interns, and other staff as required.
- Assist in the selection, implementation, and monitoring of program evaluation measures and quality indicators.
- Participate on various hospital, community, and professional committees, including the Psychology Professional Practice Council and OBIRS patient care team as required.

**Clinical Leader**:

- Respond to requests from referral sources and screen referrals for appropriateness.
- Maintain and monitor the program’s waiting list and assign workload to the interdisciplinary team.
- Establish a balance between HSN priorities and team values, while adhering to leadership values and initiatives.
- Inform the Clinical Manager of client service problems and staff concerns, issues, and achievements.
- Maintain referral patterns, nature of injury, region of referral, and team caseload-related data, and provide program documentation as required.
- Assist the team with the implementation of new initiatives, advancement of core competencies, collaborative practices, and team learning.
- Participate in the interview process and provide input to hiring decisions.
- Assist with the vacation arrangements and sick coverage.
- Organize and Chair the OBIRS patient care team meetings.
- Represent the program on the Continuum of Care Committee, North Eastern Ontario (NEO) Brain Injury Network Committee, Steering Committee, and other committees as required.
- Evaluate patient care and satisfaction on an ongoing basis and formulate solutions for improvement.
- Determine and align improvement projects with HSN’s Strategic Plan; monitor and adjust to achieve goal outcomes.
- Participate in education and training specific to current, relevant federal and provincial health and safety legislation, standards and guidelines.
- Educate and promote health, safety and wellness in the work place.
- Represent the department or program on various committees and in meetings as required.
- Perform other duties as required.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

**EDUCATION AND TRAINING**:

- Minimum of a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from an accredited university.
- Successful completion of the Post-Master’s five (5) year process of supervision, internship, and examination to acquire registration as a Psychological Associate in autonomous practice with the CPO.
- Current Certificate of Registration in good standing with the CPO and the ability to practice in Clinical, Counselling, and Rehabilitation Psychology with a
