**PROFILE**

This position can be in any of our Canadian offices.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Work with the leader(s) of the sector group, client team leaders and other BD colleagues nationally and globally to develop annual strategic plans and budgets. Track progress against plan and spend against budget.
- Research and share knowledge and insights of key trends and developments in sector, including trend reports, updates around key clients, potential targets and key competitors. Identify relevant thought leadership opportunities resulting from this research.
- Identify, assess, recommend and coordinate events to build brand and effectively position and promote the group’s capabilities to generate leads. Events could include seminars, conferences, special meetings, speaking opportunities, and charity-related initiatives.
- Work with professionals and client teams in the planning and development of growth-focused activities such as client targeting and cross-selling.
- Act as ambassador and champion for the sector group, share information and educate peers about the group, share key client activities, and identify cross-sell opportunities through internal networks.
- Collaborate with BDM team colleagues across disciplines to plan and deliver projects, materials, events and other tactics required to meet group objectives.
- Lead profile building and industry recognition activities. This includes Chambers & Legal 500 directory submissions as well as input into processes for representative work tracking and maintaining up-to-date publicly facing content about the group.
- In collaboration with the proposal team, provide direction and support for RFP proposals and less formal pitches, including review and assessment of the opportunity (go/no-go), leading meetings and liaising with professionals on content and deadlines, as well as copy editing, drafting text when required.
- Work with BD leadership to develop and deliver training/coaching to lawyers to enhance their skills in initiating, developing and closing opportunities.
- Provide insight and new thinking to BD spend and resources, including how to leverage legal innovations and technology to achieve optimal business outcomes.
- Work with client leaders and internal stakeholders to develop alternative fee pricing models to respond to changing client needs.
- Lead or support other firm-wide business development initiatives as required.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Post secondary education with an emphasis on business and/or marketing.
- At minimum of (7) seven years’ experience in strategic business development and/or marketing ideally within a professional services and/or legal environment.
- High proficiency with Microsoft Office suite with experience using a CRM database.
- Exceptional project management skills and attention to detail.
- Outstanding organizational, written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated positive, solutions-oriented approach to obstacles and challenges.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities with overlapping deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of professionalism and ability to work collaboratively.
- Domestic travel may be required.
