As the Program Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in planning, developing, marketing, delivering, and evaluating services, events, and programming at the University of Regina. Your understanding of the unique needs of Indigenous learners will contribute to building a culturally relevant community that supports their academic journey.

**What You’ll Do**:

- **Create a Community**: Design, develop, and deliver holistic and culturally responsive programming to support Indigenous student transition, development and, retention and ensure they have a welcoming home within the University of Regina campus.
- **Build Relationships**:Build and maintain strategic relationships with internal and external partners with the intent to maintain, improve, and expand on service delivery that improves student success rates, and addresses critical social, political, and economic issues that affect Indigenous students.
- **Event Coordinator**: Plan and oversee the successful delivery of large scale events that promote Indigenous knowledge and culture, offering key cultural supports and development opportunities for students and the University community.
- **Academic and Personal Support**:Equip students with essential academic skills and skills for personal growth through tailored workshops and one-on-one interactions. You will empower students to excel, inside and outside the classroom.
- **Leadership Development Facilitator**:Takes a lead role in the development, maintenance, and assessment of the Neekaneewak Indigenous Leadership Initiative, a program designed to develop Indigenous leaders.

Position Requirements

**What You’ll Bring to the Position**:

- Four year Bachelor degree, preferably in a human service field (Master’s Degree is preferred);
- Three years of related experience; and
- Knowledge of Indigenous people, their communities and socio-economics affecting those communities, and an understanding of how those factors may impact Indigenous student success. A strong understanding of cultural protocols in working with First Nations and Métis communities is crucial.

**Skills That Will Ensure Your Success in this Role**:

- Knowledge of identity development and how culture affects student development among Indigenous students in higher education.
- Understanding of the organizational and political structures of various Indigenous communities within the territories of the University.
- A clear understanding of how the University functions and the role of various units in the endeavour of educating students.
- Ability to make decisions based on sound judgment.
- Demonstrated active listening skills as a fundamental practice in First Nations way of being.
- Ability to work in a team oriented environment.
- Experience working with multiple deadlines and conflicting priorities.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment and dealing with sensitive information.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Highly developed written and oral communication skills.
- Experience working with people in crisis.

Physical Demands

Seated at a computer for 2-3 hours at a time.

Pay Grade APT 4 Salary Range $64,796 - $87,436
