**About Us**:
The Ministry of Seniors, Community and Social Services leads seniors, income, employment, disabilities and community-based supports, family violence prevention, and family & community support services. The Seniors Division leads the development and delivery of a variety of programs and services to support the well-being and independence of Alberta seniors. The Division is responsible for seniors financial assistance programs, community grants, stakeholder engagement, and cross-ministry policy and program work to support seniors from a government-wide perspective.

**Role**:
Reporting to the Executive Advisor (EA) within the Assistant Deputy Minister (ADM) office for Seniors Division, the Divisional Information Coordinator is responsible for building and maintaining collaborative working relationships to resolve issues; clarifying requests and negotiating competing deadlines; writing and researching material relevant to the Division’s mandate and tracking; and coordinating division correspondence and materials in Action Request Tracking System (ARTS).

In this role you will work with various levels of management including the Deputy Minister’s office, Ministerial Correspondence Unit, Executive Directors, and other executive offices in the ministry, to facilitate effective processes and coordination of work. The incumbent plays a key role in identifying issues to the EA or ADM that may have an impact on the effective delivery of programs and frameworks that fall within the Division's mandate. It is expected the Divisional Information Coordinator will work directly with the EA/ ADM and the Division leadership team to manage critical and emerging issues from a strategic communications and issues management lens, and share situational awareness and information to staff within the Division.

The main responsibilities of this position are (but not limited to):

- Manage critical and emerging issues for the Division from a strategic communications and issues management perspective.
- Project coordination relating to service delivery and policy of seniors programs, policies, legislation and engagements in Alberta.
- Research and analysis and scanning of potential issues,
- Provide timely and accurate advice on current and emerging issues and ensure information is disseminated to the affected program areas
- Prepare briefings and recommendations for consideration, initiate and coordinate responses, and provide value-added information and strategic messaging in a timely manner.
- Manage the Division's Action Requests (ARs) and ADM action items.

**Qualifications**:
**Required**:
University degree in a related field (Arts, Public Administration, Political Science, Economics, Business Administration, Communications, or other related field) supplemented by a minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible experience in issues coordination, written communication or policy analysis.

**Equivalency**: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience ; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.

- Well developed analytical, research and time management skills
