COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR

**1-year Part-time position (21 hours per week)**

This is a one-year position with a likelihood of renewal and possible expansion at the end of the term.
The successful applicant will ideally work Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays in office between the hours of 8am and 5pm. Some remote hours may be negotiated. The start date for this position is flexible but preferably in early September.

Since 1975, the Centre for Public Legal Education Alberta (CPLEA) has been providing understandable information to Albertans about the laws that affect their lives. Our free resources include websites, videos, FAQs, info sheets, workshops, and more. We have a talented multidisciplinary team of lawyers, a designer, a website coordinator, an education and evaluation specialist, and an operations team. And we genuinely enjoy the work we do

**What you will be doing**:

- Writing and editing content for CPLEA’s promotional materials, our “What’s New” monthly mailout, social media posts and campaigns.
- Helping with webinars, including recruiting panelists.
- Collaborating with the CPLEA team to develop a communications strategy for the organization, including a marketing plan for our upcoming 50th anniversary.
- Helping with CPLEA’s strategic initiative to “increase the brand recognition of CPLEA as a credible and authoritative source of legal information”.
- Representing the organization at community events, tradeshows, and stakeholder meetings.
- Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders.

**The qualifications, skills, and abilities required**:

- At least 1 - 2 years of relevant experience, especially with social media planning and execution.
- Strong written communication skills, with a working knowledge of plain language principles.
- Strong computer skills, including above average working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.
- Active driver’s license and access to a vehicle for attending events, tradeshows and meetings.
- Legal training is not expected or required.
- Has an engaging and outgoing personality, and enjoys working collaboratively.
- Is self-motivated with little need for direct supervision.
- Has high attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Is enthusiastic about educating Albertans about their legal rights and responsibilities.

**The salary/wage**:
The remuneration is competitive for the non-profit sector. The hourly wage range is $22.89 to $33.06 based on qualifications and experience.
