Health Sciences North (HSN) is seeking an innovative leader for the position of Clinical Manager, Regional Outpatient Geriatric Medicine Service to manage the human and material resources of the North East Specialized Geriatric Centre (NESGC) in a fiscally responsible manner. Plan, communicate, coordinate, and evaluate activities to ensure the smooth delivery of patient/client services using clinical knowledge and leadership skills to promote delivery of optimal care.

**KEY FUNCTION**:
Manage the human and material resources of the North East Specialized Geriatric Centre (NESGC) in a fiscally responsible manner. Plan, communicate, coordinate, and evaluate activities to ensure the smooth delivery of patient/client services using clinical knowledge and leadership skills to promote delivery of optimal care.

**REPORTING**:
Under the general direction of the Administrative Director, North East Specialized Geriatric Centre.

**DUTIES**:

- Develop and manage clinical programs to support North East Specialized Geriatric Centre (NESGC).
- Liase with the Geriatrician(s) and Care of the Elderly Physician(s) to design and align resources required to provide assessment and treatment.
- Develop internal and external processes for high quality client service.
- Provide education and capacity building to NESGC employees and care partners.
- Develop the clinical team to be the experts in Geriatrics for the North East.
- Provide leadership and expertise to the North East Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) related to the Integrated Health Services Plan (e.g. Falls Prevention).
- Create and maintain relationships with care partners across the North East.
- Develop and monitor key performance indicators.
- Manage human resources which include: recruitment, selection and training.
- Guide, motivate, monitor and supervise staff, develop standards of performance, evaluate performance and make recommendations on disciplinary action if required.
- Oversee the work of others in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), its regulations, and HSN policies.
- Evaluate patient care and satisfaction on an ongoing basis and formulate solutions for improvement.
- Provide hospital wide, on-call coverage for problems and serious issues after hours and on weekends according to scheduled rotation.
- Determine and align improvement projects with HSN’s Strategic Plan; monitor and adjust to achieve goal outcomes.
- Participate in the accreditation process and work to ensure that the program and HSN achieve, maintain and continually improve upon their accredited status.
- Teach, coach and lead staff and care partners in the development and monitoring of quality indicators and improvement initiatives.
- Engage in and foster professional development of all staff and provide opportunities for learning within budgeted resources.
- Ensure a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors; investigate report, debrief and take or direct corrective action as required on incidents.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders/organizations/community groups to achieve program objectives, integrate and link services and foster partnerships across the continuum of service delivery.
