Urban Planner

**Job Overview**
We are looking for an Urban Planner to work alongside us at our office in downtown Edmonton. As we are a small company focused on providing the best services for our clients, we all wear many hats and take on a variety of roles on a daily basis. This role would comprise of a mixture of urban planning and development-related tasks, working alongside the rest of the team at Clarity.
**Duties**
- Coordinate with sub-consultants, engineers, architects, municipal staff on active files;
- Organize and assist with public engagement activities and stakeholder meetings;
- Be able to work on multiple projects (10 to 15) at the same time and take responsibility for variety of assigned tasks;
- Assist with corporate marketing and business development initiatives;
- Other supportive duties as assigned;
- Stay updated on best practices in urban planning and relevant legislation; and,
- Be able to work some evenings and travel for projects.
**Experience**
- Have a degree in planning, human geography, urban design, landscape architecture, or a related field, and a minimum of 1 to 2 years of full-time work experience in a planning role;
- Excel in written and verbal communication;
- Be proactive and well-organized with good interpersonal skills and ability to build strong working relationships;
- Have experience with the principles and practices of urban and regional planning;
- Have experience with reading site and building plans, applicable legislation, regulatory requirements;
- Have an understanding of land use planning within Alberta, including, but not limited to the MGA, MDPs, hierarchy of statutory plans, and zoning/land use bylaws;
- Have abilities to creatively problem solve and critically think;
- Have familiarity and moderate competency in design-related software such as Adobe Creative Suite, Sketchup, and AutoCAD (considered an asset, not required);
- Be keenly interested in urban planning, development, and city building; and,
- Be able to work independently and take initiative.
**How to Apply?**
Pay: $70,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
