**What will you do?**
- Contribute to developing and implementing the growth management program through advancing and integrating initiatives to support priority growth areas, conducting analysis of market housing affordability, and contributing to infrastructure planning and investment, including research, internal and external engagement and planning activities
- Anticipate and adjust for factors that may impact responses to, and the perceptions, efficiency and effectiveness of program deliverables
- Identify and test planning and growth management related risks and opportunities
- Prepare and revise business cases and project charters to advance the work of the growth management program
- Provide support in defining and communicating Edmonton’s growth management program to Council, Committees, senior management, other departments, and external stakeholders including responding to inquiries and preparing reports, documents and other materials
- Draw on your expert knowledge of the Municipal Development Plan, Regional Growth Plan, and the Municipal Government Act to inform decisions and support City positions and interests
- Prepare materials for and participate in internal and external engagement and represent the City, Department and Branch related to growth management and urban planning
- Perform other related duties as required

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelors or Masters degree in Urban and/or Regional Planning or a closely related discipline
- 4 years of progressively responsible experience in municipal, intermunicipal and/or regional planning, civic infrastructure planning, and municipal finance
- Knowledge and experience is required with respect at least two of the following: strategic policy development, land development policy and process, municipal finance, and civic infrastructure planning
- Knowledge of the Municipal Development Plan and the Municipal Government Act with understanding of these and other tools can be leveraged to achieve growth management goals

**Asset**:

- Membership or eligibility for membership with the Canadian Institute of Planners is an asset

**Skills required for success**:

- Demonstrated experience in handling projects that are complex, sensitive and have long-term impacts
- Well developed, demonstrated analytical abilities and problem solving skills, including the ability to work through ambiguity
- Ability to integrate multiple perspectives to develop and socialize solutions
- Adept at developing preliminary ideas and concepts into draft deliverables for leadership review
- Relationship-building and negotiation skills involving multi-party interests
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary team environments
- Strong project management skills and demonstrated ability to achieve results in the context of a respectful, inclusive and service-minded style

The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance.
