**About the Opportunity**

Welch LLP is currently looking for a Finance Accounting Assistant for our Ottawa office who will be responsible for processing and managing payments received by Welch’s finance department. This role will report to our Controller.

**Responsibilities**:

- Handle and record client receipts (e.g. cash, cheque, credit card, EFT, wire transfer) and adjustments. Process credit card receipts, including recurring client payments and invoice-based payments.
- Manage 1000+ client accounts to ensure proper balances for each client.
- Reconcile daily and monthly between multiple systems to ensure accurate accounting of client accounts.
- Perform daily bank deposits by scanning and depositing cheques into proper bank accounts.
- Sort, distribute, and action Finance Department mail on a daily basis.
- Communicate daily with clients, partners, and staff to respond to all inquiries.
- Generate and distribute monthly client statements.
- Generate and distribute management reports as required.
- Complete basic bookkeeping tasks and financial record maintenance.
- Provide back-up and support for the Finance Team.

**Qualifications**:

- Diploma in business accounting or similar experience
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles, such as debits and credits
- Experience in maintaining financial records and bookkeeping is essential
- Attention to detail is vital for this role
- Aptitude for numbers
- Prior experience in cash management through various systems would be considered a strong asset
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Adobe
- Desire to learn new skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Bilingualism is a strong asset but not a requirement
