General Purpose:
The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for all aspects of the end-to-end accounts payable function from vendor set up to reconciliation of vendor statements, and payment processing. This position gathers purchase orders, charge slips, sales tickets, etc. and prepares outgoing payments for vendors, suppliers and other organizations/individuals. This role reports to the Accounts Payable Supervisor and is responsible for maintaining all applicable transaction records.
Major Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the end-to-end processing of the accounts payable function.
- AP duties include, vendor invoice processing, matching POs and receiving documents, general ledger account coding, and cheque/EFT preparation.
- Complete balance sheet account and/or vendor subledger reconciliations as needed. This may include preparation of related journal entries.
- Invoice management and administrative duties as needed.
- Research and resolve invoice discrepancies and issues.
- Respond to all vendors in professional manner using excellent communication skills.
- PCard management and reconciliation.
- Clearing bank reconciliation items.
- Additional duties based on business needs.
Knowledge, Education, Skills & Qualifications:
- 2+ years full cycle accounts payable experience, required.
- High school diploma required, college courses in accounting preferred.
- Intermediate to advanced skills in Excel and NAV experience preferred.
- Experience in a paper-less environment required.
- Oilfield services experience is preferred.
- Strong organization, accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills.
- Ability to work overtime as needed.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work independently.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Ability to deal with difficult situations in a professional manner.
