**About this Opportunity**

The Communications Officer, IPP, is a dynamic and culturally responsive role within our organization. This individual will collaborate closely with the Director of Indigenous Programs & Partnerships and the Communications team to amplify the voices and stories of Indigenous communities through thoughtful and respectful communication strategies.

This role is pivotal in fostering understanding and awareness of Indigenous cultures and perspectives, ensuring that our communication materials reflect a commitment to equity, inclusion, and anti-racism and anti-oppression.

This position requires a deep understanding of and respect for Indigenous cultures, strong digital content creation skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams. A commitment to equity, inclusion, and anti-racism is essential.

**Areas of Responsibility**
- Content Creation (80%):_
- Develop and maintain a content library that authentically represents Indigenous programs, including conducting partner interviews, story collection, and compiling partner reports.
- Create Indigenous-focused digital content, such as social media posts and blog articles, under the guidance of the Director, IPP, and Communications Manager.
- Work with the Communications Manager to plan a diverse and inclusive digital content schedule.
- Write and update stories for digital platforms and funder reports, using partner reports and interviews.
- Conduct respectful and culturally sensitive interviews with partners, both virtually and in-person (as travel permits).
- Assist in developing various communication materials, including presentations, articles, and educational resources.
- Photograph partner communities, ensuring cultural sensitivities and permissions are respected.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Resource Development (20%):_
- Collaborate with community partners to identify and develop resource development opportunities.
- Research and compile information to inform resource development.
- Lead the creation of resources, from planning to feedback collection.
- Develop and maintain a resource bank for partner access.
- Continuously update and refine existing resources.

**Requirements**:

- College Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Experience in digital marketing and communications is highly valued.
- 2-4 years of experience in digital content creation.
- Lived experience in an Indigenous community and, or direct experience working with Indigenous communities.
- Knowledge of an Indigenous language is an asset.
- Proficiency in content design, including digital content, presentations, copywriting, and editing.
- Basic photography skills. Experience with video software and video editing is an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to engage respectfully and effectively with Indigenous Nations and communities.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in digital tools, including Microsoft Office 365, social media platforms, and basic graphic design tools (e.g.,Canva).
- Willingness and ability to travel to partner organizations across Canada.
- Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative work ethic.
- Flexibility to work additional hours and travel as needed.
- Passion for making a positive impact.
