The Women’s & Children’s Health program at Unity Health Toronto’s St. Joseph’s site provides inpatient and outpatient obstetrics, gynecology, paediatics and NICU services to the West Toronto community and beyond. Our ambulatory clinics include a Specialized Pregnancy Care Clinic supporting high risk pregnancies, an Early Pregnancy Management Clinic, Colposcopy Clinic, Paediatric Consultation Clinics and a Just for Kids paediatric walk in clinic.

The Operations Leader will join a team of dynamic, innovative, and dedicated healthcare professionals that are committed to going above and beyond the call of duty when providing care to patients. Reporting to the Sr. Director of Women’s and Children’s Health in collaboration with patient care managers, the Operations Leader will lead and oversee daily operations and performance improvement for the obstetrics, gynecology and paediatrics clinics at St. Joe’s with a focus on quality of care, patient experience and patient flow.

**Responsibilities**
- Provides day to day guidance and operational oversight for clinic and clinic staff;
- Implements appropriate systems to support the delivery of the day to day functional activities of the team;
- Tracking and ordering of general office supplies, education materials, PPE and clinical equipment for the clinics
- Responsible for the communication and coordination with relevant stakeholders for the efficient operation of clinics
- Collaboratively works with the team and program leadership to identify opportunities for innovation, quality improvement and efficiencies
- Provides expertise in the development, standardization and implementation of practices and protocols for the ambulatory clinics
- Tracks and trends data and uses data analytics to inform decision making to improve access to care, patient flow and clinic efficiency
- Collects data, prepares and submits statistical reports to meet MOHLTC and program requirements
- Develops and implement policies, procedures, and strategies to improve work flow processes for better efficiencies in terms of service delivery, work load, productivity, scheduling etc.;
- Monitors quality assurance and safety through huddles with staff and physicians, review of safety incident reports and service/program data and quality assurance audits.
- Ensures staff have all required equipment/products/ supplies at their disposal, Duty Lists/Work Assignment outline, and are performing respective work activities as scheduled and as per area requirements;
- Plans, organizes, assigns and monitors user requested activities, and ensures completion of same;
- Participates in monthly meetings with respective unit/area stakeholders, departmental meetings, workgroups or committees, and/or meetings which may impact operations and/or support department or corporate initiatives; this includes arranging the meetings, composes agendas, minute taking and distribution
- Provides direction/leadership for the team as a coach and mentor; defines accountabilities while directing and supporting the achievement of performance goals, within functional area of responsibility;
- Liaise with multiple stakeholders including: clericals, nurse practitioners, physicians, clinical nurse educator, etc. to ensure the patient flow in the clinics is seamless and effective.
- Appropriate identification, reporting and response to patient or colleagues concerns regarding issues around patient flow.
- Organizes meetings and events including booking rooms, requests for audiovisual equipment, catering, furniture set-up.
- Other duties and responsibilities consistent with the job classification as assigned or requested

**HR Responsibility**:

- Develops, implements and oversees new staff onboarding and orientation
- Assigns and delegates work to the team and monitors completion
- In conjunction with the manager, participates in the coaching and performance management of staff, which may include gathering relevant information around incidents/complaints/concerns, providing feedback directly to staff, taking part in investigations, providing input on corrective action(s), issuing non-disciplinary and disciplinary letters, and supporting the creation/implementation/follow up of any learning plans or performance improvement plans as required).
- Reviews and updates Work Assignments, as needed and annually;
- Introduces and implements new, redesigned, and/or elimination of Work Assignments;
- Works with the manager to build and foster an effective team environment and a culture built on respect, trust, wellbeing and lifelong learning for staff;
