Nature of the work
- The job of administration officer involves more specifically realizing day-to-day administrative programs and processes for one or more College services, specifically Plant & Facilities.
- Specifically, the administration officer will perform all phases of architectural work including planning, designing and overseeing construction, renovation and restoration projects. The incumbent will be involved in new building designs, extensions, alterations, restorations and conservations from the earliest stages right through to completion.
- Responsabilities- Evaluate and make recommendations on the feasibility and cost for construction, renovation and restoration projects;
- Develops plans and specifications for construction and renovation projects;
- Assists in the negotiation of contracts;
- Oversee the day-to-day activities of internal or external projects in order to:
- Provide status reports;
- Ensure that all work is carried out according to plan, devis, specific standards, building codes, guidelines and regulations;
- Ensure deadlines are respected and projects are within budget;
- Ensure necessary steps have been taken to minimize any impact or disruption to daily operations;- Participate in the selection of and oversee the private professional engineers/architects for the development of plans and specifications, studies and reports;
- Research, interpret and ensure the city code and regulations related to public works, subdivisions and building projects are followed;
- Council college administrators and collaborate with members of the Dawson Community to ensure projects run smoothly;
- Ensure all the building drawings (i.e.: architectural), construction devis and related technical documents are up-to-date;
- Responsible for performing physical inspections, which may include climbing to heights of 50 to 60 feet, working on scaffolding and rooftops;
- Perform other related tasks.
**Requirements**:
- Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in an appropriate field of specialization related to construction.
- Conditions- Be a member of a professional order
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience and 5 years of experience in a professional firm
- Experience in project management or in a public institution
- ASP certification
- Master of Architecture degree accredited by the Canadian Architectural Certification Board is an asset
- Excellent oral and written English and French communication skills (testing may be required)
- Excellent knowledge of AutoCAD and familiarity with design software (Adobe Photoshop, SketchUp, 3d Studio VIZ or similar)
- Expert knowledge of building products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations and quality standards
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Project, PowerPoint and Word.
