As a Marketing Strategist, you’ll be implementing strategies that profile the University, enhance its institutional reputation, and drive enrolment growth. Your expertise will be the driving force behind our digital, social, print, and multimedia campaigns, creating compelling content to reach our diverse audience groups.
But this role is more than just marketing; it requires a creative mind, someone who can have fun, and tell a compelling story whether it’s on social media, through video, or on the radio. We’re looking for someone with marketing and branding experience who understands market and social trends but can look beyond them to strengthen the University’s connection to priority audiences and engage them to take action. The ability to work well independently and as part of a fast-paced, dynamic team is essential.
**Position Summary**:
Reporting to the Associate Director, Marketing & Digital Communications, the Marketing Strategist will work to deliver effective mechanisms for promoting and profiling the University, building reputation and community engagement, attracting students, and generating revenue.
**What You’ll Do**:
- Work with team members and colleagues throughout the University to develop and implement strategic marketing plans with measurable outcomes;
- Develop and implement promotional plans for community events and community engagement opportunities;
- Generate creative, engaging and branded marketing content suitable per channel, per audience, and per event. This includes recording video, taking photos and writing copy, in alignment with the Institutional Identity and the U of R’s social media guidelines;
- Analyze data that looks at influencing/measuring levels of engagement against strategic goals and targets, and modifying the approach when necessary;
- Manage projects, budgets and contracts efficiently; and,

Position Requirements
**What You’ll Bring to this Position**:
- University degree in Business (Marketing), Communications or related field or demonstration of equivalent education and experience;
- Three to five years of related experience;
- Combination of education and experience may be considered.
**Skills That Will Ensure Your Success in the Role**:
- Knowledge of strategic marketing best practices;
- Knowledge of branding/brand management;
- Knowledge of digital/social media best practices;
- Knowledge of post-secondary enrolment trends or experience in marketing a post-secondary institution would be considered an asset.;
- Experience managing large projects/initiatives and/or events would be considered an asset;
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to function as a positive team member is required; and,
- Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills are required.
Physical Demands Pay Grade APT 4 Salary Range $64,796 - $87,436 Status Term Work Hours
Monday - Friday, 8:15 - 4:30. Occasionally, there may be work required outside of normal business hours.
Duration (if Term/Temporary) 2 Years with the possibility of extension and or permanent. Full-Time/Part-Time Full Time Preference Posting No Preference Target Posting Not Targeted
