University Advancement is seeking a dynamic communicator with a passion for creative storytelling to develop specialized messaging on behalf of the Engagement Unit, as well as supporting overarching priorities for University Advancement. Reporting to the Director, Engagement, this Communications Strategist position is responsible for planning and developing communications and marketing deliverables in support of the University’s priorities.

Working closely with Alumni Engagement Officers, Events Managers and Special Projects Officers, Annual Giving and Faculty Communications, you will help develop, and then implement strategies that profile exciting events, alumni, community engagement and annual giving opportunities. You would create traditional and digital content to reach the maximum number of potential stakeholders with information that is relevant to their interests and compels them to register for our events, participate in a program or provide financial support through annual giving.

This role requires a creative mind - someone who can have fun while telling a compelling story - whether it’s on social media, through video, or on digital print. We’re looking for someone with a passion for marketing, branding and communications, who seeks to understand market and social trends, while looking beyond to strengthen the University’s connection with with our alumni and community partners and engage them to take action.

Connecting with key stakeholders including students, faculty, staff, alumni, donors and community supporters in meaningful ways has the potential to generate significant return on investment for the University. This position will be integral in strengthening the University’s connection to priority audiences.

**What You’ll Do**:

- Work to develop and execute communications plans that engage key stakeholders, and tell the University’s success stories;
- Produce editorial content for the University’s various media platforms (website, news releases, news stories, social media content, etc.);
- Contribute digital content, copy-editing to produce monthly e-newsletters and digital publications;
- Keep the alumni, community engagement and annual giving webpage up to date with compelling content, features and photography.
- Measure effectiveness of communications and marketing efforts, ensuring continuous improvement and effective process; and,
- Work with colleagues to plan and execute large-scale media and public events aimed at increasing institutional presence provincially, nationally and internationally, as well as promoting community involvement and partnerships.

Position Requirements

**What You’ll Bring to this Position**:

- Completion of an undergraduate degree
- Four to six years of related experience (or completion of a recognized diploma from a college or technical institute with additional specialized training and four to six years of related experience)
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered

**Skills That Will Ensure Your Success in the Role**:

- Strong leadership skills along with four to six years of progressively responsible experience in communications, marketing or public relations;
- Professional accreditation in either CPRS or IABC is required (or should be working towards the accreditation);
- Experience working in communications for a large, multifaceted public sector organization;
- Experience in events and project management;
- Experience in digital publishing and web design;
- Demonstrated experie
