**Position**:Project Coordinator - YESS - Youth Foundations Employment Project

**Term**:Part-time - 21 hours per week (February - August 2023) with thepotential to extend

**Reports to**:Manager of Youth Services (YOCISO)

**About OCISO**

OCISO supports immigrants through the journey of making Canada their home by providing creative and responsive programs that are culturally and linguistically appropriate, building community through mutual respect and partnerships, and by fostering healthy and inclusive spaces for open dialogue and healing.

The Program Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the YESS Program and ensuring the success of the program. They are also responsible for the YESS Program staff, managing their own caseload as needed, and participating in business development and marketing initiatives, along with supporting operational procedures. The Program Coordinator has to ensure that the staff complies with KPIs and YESS Program objectives outlined.

**Main Responsibilities**:

- Supervise the YESS Project, including but not limited to supervising and motivating staff; conducting intake interviews and case management duties, assigning files, submitting accurate KPI reports; address concerns as they arise
- Coach and provide specific feedback to staff, both positive and constructive about their performance during monthly file reviews with each staff member, and when opportunities arise.
- Coordinate project; establish and monitor work plan in consultation with core partners; ensure strong reporting, evaluation framework, and communication strategy
- Conduct intake interviews for all participants to evaluate the eligibility for the YESS Program: racialized youth; newcomer youth and Youth with NEET (No involvement in the last 6 months for Education, Employment or Training)
- Monitor the progress of the participants within every phase of the plan and evaluate the progress of every step of the program
- Deliver activities required under the evaluation framework and prepare progress/final reports
- Develop an employment counselling curriculum
- Employment Counselling: conduct client intake and assessments; assess client’s employment readiness, and define short/long term career goals
- Develop and deliver networking sessions
- Deliver orientation sessions to clients
- Provide referrals to other programs/services as needed
- Participate in internal committees and working groups as required
- Maintain database for the purpose of detailed activity/outcome tracking and reporting
- Demonstrate a commitment to OCISO’s culture of respect management approach and anti-racism/anti-oppression policy within the work environment and in the community
- Develop and lead virtual professional development workshops with youth
- Knowledge of office procedures, Microsoft Office Suite and Electronic Communications is imperative
- Must be capable of setting priorities and working under pressure
- Demonstrate a commitment to OCISO’s culture of respect approach
- Any other responsibilities outlined by the Program Manager

**Internal Agency-wide Involvement**:

- Ensure ongoing communication with OCISO staff for integrated service delivery.
- Attend agency-wide meetings as required.
- Participate in internal committees and working groups as required.
- Keep well informed of OCISO’s programs and other community services & resources.
- Provide support and promote OCISO programs and initiatives

**External Community Involvement**:

- Promote the YOCISO and other programs of OCISO within the communities in Ottawa
- Connect with partners, community members and cultural institutions to promote and outreach for recruitment and engagement
- Inform, sensitize, and educate service providers and the community at large on immigrant and refugee issues by participating in presentations, workshop delivery, consultations, committee meetings, events and training opportunities, agency fairs and media as requested and approved

**Qualifications**:

- University degree or college diploma in Human Resources, Career Coaching, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas; employment support, human resources, career coaching/counselling, labor market integration
- Knowledge of the labor market trends and challenges faced by Visible Minority Newcomer to Canada
- Excellent organizational, coordination and presentation skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Effective interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills
- Fluency in English essential, French other languages desirable
- Proven ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary and multicultural team environment

**Competencies**
- Strong reading and writing English skills.
- Ability to speak read and write a language other than English.
- Understand the needs of and challenges facing newcomers (immigrants and refugees).
